7th Grade – Earth’s Layers
4th Quarter Project – Worth 100 points (a test grade!)
Due: May 15th, 2013
Write a childrens book about your fictional journey to the center of the Earth.
Be sure you meet all the requirements for this project, as it will be graded like a test!
For a "B"...









Cover page with the title of your book, a colored design/picture, and your name
4-5 pages in length with a minimum of 3 sentences per page
Colored illustrations on each page that are neat and done with care
All pages are stapled or bound together along the edge
Pages are no smaller than 1/2 a normal piece of computer paper
Story has a clear plot that tells about traveling through the layers of the Earth
Accurate details are used about each layer of the Earth (crust, mantle, outer core, inner core) include the state of matter for the layer, descriptions of the temperature and pressure, and unique
details about each layer such as the composition of the layer (what is it made of?)
A minimum of 5 vocabulary words is used correctly in context
The finished product is neat and is a representation of the student's best work
For an "A"...





You meet all of the above requirements PLUS...
Your book is 6 or more pages in length with a minimum of 3 sentences per page
Illustrations are exceptionally detailed and thoughtful - clear effort has gone into them
More than 5 vocabulary words are used correctly in context
Additional detail is used to enhance the depth of understanding of the topic
