Backward Design Lesson Plan Template Teacher: Dalia Gad grade level: kg - 6 Course: Arabic 1 Lesson title: Farm animals Step 1—Desired Results Standard Outcomes for Learning (ACTFL Standard 1.1)—Answer’s the question, what should students know, understand, and be able to do as a result of the lesson? Students will be able to identify, read and write the names of some farm animals in Arabic and draw their favorite animals. Step 2—Assessment Evidence Performance task—What will students do to show what they have learned? - Students will say, read and write the names of the animals in Arabic. - Students will talk about their favorite animals. - Students will make posters for a farm. - Students will listen to a story about the farm animals. - Students will play games. Step 3—Learning Plan Learning activities - Answer’s the question, how do I teach it? 1-Greet students using Arabic greeting. 2- Ask students if they have any pets at home. 3- Introduce the names of some farm animals in Arabic using power point presentation and a picture of a farm. 4- Students repeat the names of farm animals in chorus and individually. 5- Show students pictures of some farm animals and ask questions about them, e.g what color, where they can find it …………...etc. 6- Show students different pictures of farm animals and ask about their names 7- Some students imitate different animals and the others guess what are they. 8- Encourage students to work in groups to talk about their favorite animals. 9- Students listen to voices of some animals and guess what are they. 10- Tell students a story about the farm animals. 11-Students play a game (Who I am), a student describes an animal and the other students try to guess what is it. 12- Students draw and color their favorite animals. 13- Students play a game, one student hides a picture of an animal and the other students ask him questions about it to help them to guess what is that. 14- Encourage students to create posters of a farm with different animals and write the names of the animals on it. Step 4—Reflection Students were engaged. They enjoyed creating posters for a farm. They like the games so much and they enjoyed the story of the farm animals.
