EDWARD P. NOLAN FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION
Graduate Award
Deadline: April 1, 2015 @ noon
The English Department is pleased to announce its annual competition for the Edward P. Nolan
Fellowship. This fellowship was established in memory of the late Edward P. Nolan, Professor of
English and Comparative Literature at the University of Colorado from 1966 to 1994. An award of
up to $500 will be awarded, on a competitive basis, to a graduate student in English to support
innovative and outstanding scholarship and teaching. For example, awards may be made to
support travel to research institutions or to conferences to read papers.
Qualifications
 PhD or MA standing in English.
 Special consideration will be given to those doing research in the medieval or modern
period, and to Ph.D. candidates, in particular those whose progress might be delayed
because of financial and familial responsibilities. However, the excellence of a given
research project is the main criterion for consideration.
 Applicants must have a graduation date no earlier than December 2015.
 Awards will be distributed and applied to the student’s Fall 2015 tuition bill.
Application Instructions
To apply for this fellowship, please complete the application form and include all materials
requested on the application checklist. Please be aware that any funding awarded through the
university may affect your financial aid status; if you have questions about this aspect of the award,
please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
