Fall 2014 History of Life GEOL 143 An introductory-level course focusing on how life began on Earth and the processes and events that led to the kind of life we see on Earth today. The class covers all trees of life and the chemistry, physics, geology, and biology that affect the evolution of life throughout geologic history. VISITING INSTRUCTOR Spring 2014 Natural Disasters GEOL 118 An introductory, general education course on the violent geological processes on our planet, such as Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Floods, Meteorite Impacts, and Mass Extinction. The course focuses on the prevention, mitigation, and education about natural disasters to our society and communities. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University LECTURER 2011-2012 Substitute lecturer: GEOS 1014 Earth and Life through time– Virginia Tech Jacalyn M.
