ExplorEr’s WEbquEst Task: Your task is to investigate the conditions aboard European explorers' ships and the areas they explored in the New World. You will create a journal from the perspective of a sailor. Your journal needs to include details about life aboard the ship, what you would see when you finally reached land, people you would meet on your journey and a map of your travels. Process: In order to create your journal you'll need to do some investigating. Use the websites to help you find information. Your job is to select an explorer to learn about from the sites on the webquest. When you create your journal, you will be writing from the perspective of a sailor. This can be the captain of the ship or a member of the crew. Give yourself a name, age and background. While your character may be fictitious, you MUST include historical facts in your journal (dates, places, geographical features, names etc). The following questions can help guide your research. Where did they travel to? What kinds of experiences might they have had aboard their ships? What would they see on land? What was their role aboard their ship? Remember, you are seeking historical facts about life during this time, routes of their travels and information about their journeys. Use the websites below to locate and analyze information about the life of these European explorers. Take notes from the websites to complete your research.
