STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION OF UTAH (SEAU)

2015-2016 ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
This scholarship will be given to post-secondary students who are pursuing a civil engineering
degree of Bachelor level or higher at any accredited school in Utah. Individual applicants must
be a student member of SEAU. Three one-time scholarships will be awarded in the amount of
$500 at the discretion of the SEAU Board of Directors.
This award is based on a combination of need, scholastic achievement, and contributions to the
field of structural engineering.
Applications are due no later than May 31, 2015. The Structural Engineers Association of Utah
(SEAU) Board of Directors will make a final award decision by June 30, 2015. The actual award
will be presented to the recipient at the annual SEAU Opening Social held in September 2015,
and will be announced in the monthly SEAU newsletter.
All questions on the application must be answered completely. Please type or print legibly in
black ink. If any question is not applicable to your situation, please enter N/A in the blank. Feel
free to use annotated addendum sheets to explain your responses more fully.
In addition, please attach a copy of your most recent academic transcript and one letter of
recommendation.
Please note that all information provided herein will be held in strictest confidentiality. No
personal information will be released outside of the SEAU Board of Directors without the
expressed approval of the applicant.

SCHOLARSHIPS GUIDELINES
The Structural Engineers Association of Utah will award three separate one-time scholarships to three
individuals, each in the amount of $500.00. The award will be based on the combination of financial need,
scholastic achievement, and contributions to the field of structural engineering.
I.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Recipients of the scholarship are required to:
A. Be a student member of SEAU
B. Complete the Scholarship Application
C. Be enrolled as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student in a Utah accredited
university/college
D. Be pursuing a degree or Certificate of Completion, in a field related to structural
engineering.
E. Have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
F. Not be related to any member of the SEAU Board of Directors
II.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
A. Complete the Scholarship Application and submit with the items listed below:
i. One page essay about your interest in structural engineering and your future
goals detailing how this scholarship will help you achieve those goals.
ii. Copy of your most recent academic transcript
iii. One Letter of Recommendation
B. Mail all of the above listed items to the address listed on the application
III.
SELECTION RECIPIENTS
Selections will be based on student’s overall academic progress and success, financial need,
the conveyance of how this financial aid will help the applicant earn a degree and make a
difference in structural engineering.
IV.
NOTICE OF AWARDS
Students will be notified of any scholarship award or denial.
