Unless otherwise listed here the technical specification of the machinery must
be standard OEM factory fitted for that year and model with no modification
permitted:
1) Single cylinder up to 450cc 4 stroke MX or Enduro based motorcycles only allowed. No
factory built Supermotard models allowed unless written permission is given by AUSCO.
Check with the AFX-SBK Promoter by email on admin@aus-superbike.com.au to make
sure your model motorcycle is eligible to compete in the ‘SuperSingle FX-450GP’ class.
2) The Frame, Swingarm, Sub-frame and Engine must all be from the same OEM model
and year eligible 450 motorcycle.
3) Wheel size: Wheel rims diameter sizes must be: 17” rear, 17” front.
4) Wheel rim widths – maximum (front 3.5”, rear 5”) there is no minimum width.
5) Wheel type: can be either wire spoke type or cast, no composite wheels allowed.
Spokes: aftermarket or modified spokes are accepted
6) Hubs: aftermarket or modified wheel hubs are accepted, including the addition of or
use of a ‘Cush drive’ systems.
7) Tyres: can be either moulded tread pattern or racing slicks, if treaded tyres are used
they must have a speed rating of at least HR. Wet racing tyres allowed if track declared
wet by Clerk of Course.
8) Front brake: Single front Disc only; front disc width and diameter are open, front
brake master cylinder, calliper, calliper mounting, brake line and banjo bolts can be
replaced with aftermarket parts. Disc material type must be of a cast iron or stainless
steel material, no carbon or composite discs allowed. Calliper mounting bolts must be
lock wired.
9) Gearing: Final drive Sprocket sizes are open (chain pitch must be oem per model and
year)
10) Suspension – Rear Shock Standard OEM per model and year: internal modifications
are allowed and destroking of suspension is permitted. Aftermarket springs with different
load ratings can be fitted.
11) Front Forks – Can be changed to other non model or brand specific forks, fork
internals can be modified. Length of forks can be changed and external adjusters can be
fitted.
12) Triple Clamps: can be changed, Offset can be changed.
13) Handlebars: Clip ons can be fitted
14) Handguards or brush guards not allowed.
15) MotoGP based hand guards can be fitted.
16) Foot Pegs & Brackets: Can be changed to rear sets, includes any alterations or
fitment of aftermarket gear change shifter and rear brake lever etc to suit rear sets.
17) Crash knobs on axle ends and footpegs are mandatory
18) Frame: Standard OEM per year and model cannot be modified, but can be repaired
providing original profile retained.
19) Body work: Road racing bodywork can be fitted including Petrol Tank Cover and Rear
Seat Unit, Front mud guard, faring brackets and body work brackets can be fitted.
20) Sub Frame: Standard OEM per year and model and cannot be altered, but can be
repaired providing original profile is retained
21) Silhouette Rule:
All motorcycles that compete in the FX-450GP class are required to have a silhouette
similar to the impression below to be eligible to compete in the class. ( No Nakedbikes
etc)
22) Cylinder head porting is allowed.
23) Engine Compression: can be altered.
24) Engine Bore: Standard OEM per year and model, no modifications.
25) Engine Stroke & Crank: Standard OEM per year and model, no modifications
26) Airbox: Standard OEM per year and model no modifications, air filter must be
retained and operational. Aftermarket air filter can be fitted but must be fully
operational.
27) Fitment of supplementary oil tanks and/or oil coolers which allows an increase in
engine oil capacity is allowed but oil lines used must be of an accepted high pressure
type.
28) No modifications to the swinging arm allowed at all other than fitment of rear chain
guards and or stand brackets or the fitting of crash knobs.
29) FUEL RESTRICTIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS
As per the various relevant Federal Government Laws, Acts of Parliament, restrictions
and or allowances for fuel usage for modern 4-stroke motorcycles and the relevant
Series Fuel Restriction & Allowance Rules for the 2012 FX Nationals and AFXSBK Series.
Fuel is restricted to Unleaded commercially available Petrol Station petrol pump supplied
petrol with a maximum Octane rating of 98. No additives at all are allowed.
30) ECU must be standard OEM for that model/year – if fuel injected a separate piggy
back fuel injection controller is allowed as long as no wiring harness modifications are
required and the Fuel Injection Controller unit has a maximum RRP of A$600.
Rev limiter setting must be as per standard oem per model/year and operational, no
modifications.
31) Although it is confirmed that anything not listed herein must be OEM standard for
that model/year – the following are mentioned for the sake of clarification and MUST BE
OEM / model /year standard parts with no modifications allowed at all:
Camshaft(s), camshaft sprockets, valves, valve springs and collets and retainers,
internal gears and gearbox parts, clutches and all clutch parts. Carburettors or throttle
bodies, tuning of these parts is only by change of settings only. No changes or
modifications to water pumps, rear brake calliper other then lock wiring.
32) Aftermarket clutch, brake and Gear levers are allowed.

33) Exhaust system: Aftermarket exhausts are allowed but must be made of non ferrous
metals or Stainless Steel, No Titanium allowed other than as a muffler rap/can. Any
replacement exhaust must use all of the original attachment points. Exhaust noise level
must conform to the series and or circuit noise level requirements which is usually 95 db
max depending on each circuits noise restrictions.
34) Carbon fibre or composite parts can only be used if said parts are standard for that
oem model/year.
35) Modified or aftermarket rear chain guides can be fitted and are acceptable.
36) Radiators: Standard OEM per year and model only, aftermarket radiator hoses is
acceptable.
37) Race Number Boards: Number boards back and front must be Yellow (flat not gloss).
Race Numbers Black, font optional but must be easily recognisable at a distance of 20
metres. A single rear centred number board is within the rules, the race numbers must
be fitted north /south with the top of the number racing towards the riders rear.
38) All bikes are required to carry the original manufacturer of the motorcycles name on
the petrol tank cover on either side ie, Honda, Suzuki, KTM etc. All bikes are required to
have at least 40% of the body work painted in the manufacturers own racing colours, for
example Kawasaki ...Green, Honda ....Red, KTM ...Orange. Suzuki can be either
Australian colours or Rizla colours. If you are not sure about what colour your bike needs
to be please contact AUSCO before painting the bike.
39) The FX-450GP class is a privateers class of racing, it is not restricted by grade, it is
open to any grade of rider. But riders who the promoter considers, at his discretion, to
be factory team riders or ‘ring ins’ will not be eligible to enter this class.
The above technical rules and regulations for the 2012 FX-450GP class will work in
conjunction with the 2012 Australian FX-Superbike Championship (AFX-SBK)
Supplementary Regulations. If the AFX-SBK Championship Series Sup Regs conflict with
these rules then the AFX-SBK Championship Series Sup Regs will be the taken as the
overriding and senior document.
