Chart Paper
Tissue paper (various shades of blue)
Contact paper
Raindrop template
Cotton balls
Construction paper
Thin cardboard
Googly eyes
String or yarn
Students need:
Glue
Scissors
Teacher Directions
This will be the opening of a unit on weather. This lesson will be about
rain. The teacher will have a quick discussion with the class about how
much they know about rain. (Where it comes from, why it is wet, why
does it come from the sky) etc. The teacher will then perform a discussion
on rain providing facts and examples with charts and a cute video. After
the discussion, the students will create their own rain clouds and provide
2 facts about rain that they learned in the lesson. They will hang the rain

clouds throughout the room.
The students will participate in the class discussion and tell how much they
know about rain. They will listen to the lesson and watch the video on rain and
ask any questions if they have any. After the lesson, the students will create
their own rain clouds using cotton balls for the clouds and tissue paper for the
rain drops. The rain drops will be attached to the cloud using string. They will
write 2 facts about rain that they heard in the lesson. The raindrops will then
be placed around the room.
