Project: Mystery Pellet ---- DUE FRIDAY 10/2
DIRECTIONS: There are 2 parts to this project. Part 1 is the observations of the Mystery
Pellet Data Table. Part 2 is the written part. There are the requirements for each part.
PART 1: Your Observations of the Mystery Pellet Data Table
Make sure to:
 INCLUDE MEASUREMENTS USING THE METRIC UNIT on all of your diagrams!
 Complete any diagrams and your written observations
 Outline your diagrams in BLACK ink (marker or pen) OR you can color in your diagrams
 Write your written observations NEATLY or you can type it up
**You can always decide to redraw the data table. You do not have to use the worksheet that you
are given in class.**

double space (if you know how to), heading and date needs to be included.
Make sure to include these parts in your writing:
In your 1st paragraph:

Describe and explain what you did in this activity. You can also talk about how you thought like a
scientist, the tools that you used, and what you and your group discussed.
In your 2nd paragraph:

HOW did you try to figure out what the skeletons in the pellet were? WHAT type of skeletons did you
find in the pellet? Was there anything else in the pellet that you observed?
In your 3rd paragraph:



What do you think a pellet is based on this experiment and what you found?
What was the class’s data? Did it tell you more information about the pellet?
What other experiments or testing do you think you could do to find out more information about the
pellet?
Challenge (optional): Include research information about owl pellets into your writing. Be sure to cite your sources
and include the links and/or book titles in your project.
