Test Coordinator Responsibilities
The Test Coordinator’s role in field testing is essential to carry out a successful and smooth administration of the field
test. Test Coordinators are tasked with:
 Coordinating and communicating with all parties involved (Technology Coordinators, Test Administrators,
Teachers, and Students)
 Scheduling and managing testing sessions in your school(s)

 Confirm the grade level(s) and
domain that are participating in
the field test for your school(s).
Make sure to collect student
tier information from the
operational test before the
booklets are shipped back to
Metritech.
At least 3 weeks prior to
testing or sooner


Confirm with WIDA Staff
Use the Test Session Upload Template to help
you document the tier information and upload to
eDIRECT to create test sessions. Each student’s
tier information from the operational test is
required when setting up the Field Test sessions
in eDIRECT.
 Ensure that schools have the
appropriate number of headsets
(headphones with microphones
for the Speaking domain) and/or
headphones (for the Reading
and Writing domains).
At least 3 weeks prior to
testing or sooner

For districts participating in the Reading and
Writing domains, keep in mind that if you plan to
purchase equipment, consider the need for
headsets for the Speaking domain once ACCESS
for ELLs 2.0 is operational.

 Create and manage your profile
on eDIRECT
At least 2 weeks prior to
testing or sooner

You will need to set up a user profile in eDIRECT:
https://wida.drcedirect.com/default.aspx
After you have confirmed your participation with
WIDA, you should contact DRC Customer Service
to request an account. You will then
automatically receive a notification with your
username and password.

 Set up user accounts for the
Technology Coordinators and
Test Administrators in eDIRECT
and assign permissions
At least 2 weeks prior to
testing or sooner

instructions on adding users and granting them
permissions.

participate in the field test to
the eDIRECT system and indicate
whether a student will require
the color chooser
accommodation option (or
coordinate with Test
Administrator to add students)

You will select students via a dropdown menu
that draws on MetriTech demographic data DRC
has preloaded
(see: the Test Coordinator webinar and Test
SetUp section of the eDIRECT User Guide)
 Notify parents/guardians about
the field test and their child’s
participation.
At least 2 weeks prior to
testing or sooner

Contact the students' parent or guardian via email
or memo to inform them of their child's
participation in the upcoming field test
 Create test sessions
(or coordinate with Test
Administrator to set up session)
At least 2 weeks prior to
testing or sooner

In eDIRECT, under the Test Set Up tab, you will
complete a few steps that include selecting the
appropriate test and student. Note that you will
need to enter the tier from the student’s
operational ACCESS test.
 Provide support to the Test
Administrators involved in
administering the field test

Once you have set up the Technology
Coordinator in eDIRECT, he/she will be able to
access the Technology User Guide and the two
installations necessary for the test

computer or administrators and may be accessed
on eDIRECT without a password
The Online Tools Trainings may be accessed via
desktop icon once the Technology Coordinator
has completed the two software installations

the school test administration window for the
operational ACCESS for ELLs and field test
administration guidelines
 Coordinate with Test
Administrators to print Student
Rosters and Test Session Tickets

The Test Coordinator may grant permission to the
Test Administrator to do this, or may give the
coordinators the Student Roster and Test Tickets
 Ensure adherence to all security Prior, during, and after
policies for online administration testing
and handling of all printed test
materials

All test materials are considered secure materials
as outlined in the eDIRECT Terms of Use
statement. Any paper test materials must be
kept secure in a locked cabinet if they are not in
use during testing.
 Monitor testing progress in
eDIRECT during the testing
window
