Motion made by Sarah Hartzler, 2 by Catherine Brechtelsbauer, ● Public Comment Suggestion was made for the Executive Committee to discuss removing the public comment from the monthly agendas. ● Proposed Budget The proposed budget was discussed. Notable changes from the Budget previous year is that $3,000 is being allotted for Emerging Issues and approved $675.00 is being put into the budget for the annual meeting. A balance of $5,907.25 was carried over from the previous year. Molly Kaser made the motion to support, Sarah Hartzler made the 2nd. A vote was taken, none were opposed, all were in favor. -Treasurer Toby Berry It was announced that the Nomination Committee, consisting of Ken Toll, Catherine Brechtelsbauer, and Richard Thoune made - Executive Committee has recommendations to the Executive Committee. It was announced approved and recommended that the Executive Committee approved and recommended Ishwar a nomination based upon the Laxminarayan to be put before the general committee for a vote. Nomination Committees Sarah Hartzler made a motion to approve the recommendation and suggestions. Molly Kaser made the 2nd. A vote was taken, all were in favor, none were opposed. Lesia Pikaart, DisAbility Connections, working with state legislators to reconsider the cut to 2015-2016 fund for our Independent Living Guide Pilot which targets older teens and young adults with disabilities who have a goal to work. Molly Kaser, Center for Family Health, In April, CFH will be breaking ground on a new dental facility. It will be located across the street from our downtown facility; dates and logistics for the ceremony will be shared soon. Elizabeth Knoblauch, LifeWays, Stomp Out Suicide 5K is May 30 at Cascades Park. Walk A Mile in My Shoes Rally is May 6 at the State Capital. Registration is available for both and they can do so on our website. ● Organizational Updates Richard Thoune, Health Officer, has been working with Allegiance Health and the Jackson Health Network to complete the State Innovation Model Accountable Systems of Care Capacity Assessment, due to the Michigan Department of Community Health on April 13th. A second capacity assessment for the Community Health Innovation Region that is part of the State Innovation Model will be released later this month for completion. Work on developing the Community Immunization Coalition continues with a May 13th meeting date of key partners to develop the structural components and operational purpose of the coalition. Health literacy has received a lot of community interest lately. Nine out of 10 citizens have low health literacy, and this creates significant problems for health care providers and their patients in terms of accessing health care, managing medications, and preventive health services. A group of 4-5 Health Department and Allegiance Health members will attend a health literacy seminar on April 19 th in Lansing. Judy Jove, Family Service & Children’s Aid, announced that the agency was beginning a 42 month long grant from the Children’s Trust Fund to provide parent education with emphasis on trauma informed curriculum. The grant involves two weekly parent education classes, work with parents at Lincoln Head Start and various workshops on parenting traumatized children for target groups in the community. Judy also invited all to participate in the agency’s annual 5K Run for Fun scheduled on May 2 at Cascades Park. Judy also mentioned that Family Service, along with CAA, DHS, Lifeways and Jackson ISD are working together on developing trauma informed systems of care through a small planning grant from the State. Simon Foster, JATA, The Jackson Area Transportation Authority would like to invite you to a vital Community Summit featuring guest speaker Lloyd Carr and a panel of Transportation experts from around the nation. The Summit will take place Thursday, May 7th, at the Ella Sharp Museum Community Room. The Summit begins at 8:00am and will end promptly at 1:00pm. BREAKFAST AND LUNCH WILL BE SERVED.
