Seed Bearers & Burden Sharers
2 Corinthians 9:10-15
10
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you
have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for
all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service
not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God,
13
while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to
the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, 14 and by their prayer for you,
who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. 15 Thanks be to God for His
indescribable gift!
John 4:35-38
Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift
up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps
receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice
together. 37 For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for
which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

Psalm 126:6, He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come
again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Matthew 13:19, When anyone hears the Word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the
wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by
the wayside.
Ecclesiastes 11:5-7, 5 As you do not know what is the way of the wind, or how the bones grow in the
womb of her who is with child, so you do not know the works of God who makes everything.

In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not
know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.
II.

4-I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead
at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.
Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they
will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears,
they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be
turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an
evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
III. Martha & Mary—Luke 10:38-42; John 11:1-5; John 12:1-7
Luke 10:38-42
Mary and Martha Worship and Serve

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha
welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and
heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said,
“Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many
things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken
away from her.”

John 11:1-5
The Death of Lazarus.. Lord, I the one You love is sick.
11 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was
that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother
Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is
sick.”
When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the
Son of God may be glorified through it.”

Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
John 12:1-7
The Anointing at Bethany … we each choose the way we will serve the Lord. Choose wisely.
12 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been
dead, whom He had raised from the dead. 2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but
Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. 3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil
of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled
with the fragrance of the oil.

But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this
fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 This he said, not that he cared
for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in
it.

But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial.
IV. Share the Load—II Cor 8:8-15m

Christ Our Pattern

I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He
became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were
desiring to do a year ago; 11 but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a
readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have. 12 For if there is first a
willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.

For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; 14 but by an equality, that now
at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—
that there may be equality. 15 As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he
who gathered little had no lack.”
V.
Living and Modeling a Christian Life (Echoes from God,
Chapter 9)
I Corinthians 13, the LOVE Chapter of the Bible tells us how to live and model Christ-like
behaviors. These characteristics are becoming of a Christian. They are the ones that will provide a
sure foundation for not only you and your husband, but for the Church and community.
VI. You Have An Inheritance… Now and Then!
First you must establish your relationship with Jesus Christ. Recognize WHO you are in the Lord. He
has given you HIS NAME, HIS Riches, HIS Health, HIS Body, HIS Blood! We are rich in Him in all
things. We must KNOW THAT WE KNOW we are His and He is ours. When that realization takes
place within our Spirit… there is no stopping us! We can serve Him, because He is our Life, our
Family, our Father!

VII. Esther… Write Your Own Decree!
Those Who Wear The Ring Have the Authority of the King
Esther 5, Esther’s Banquet
5 Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of
the king’s palace, across from the king’s house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal
house, facing the entrance of the house. 2 So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the
court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in
his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.
And the king said to her, “What do you wish, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given
to you—up to half the kingdom!”

So Esther answered, “If it pleases the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I
have prepared for him.”

Then the king said, “Bring Haman quickly, that he may do as Esther has said.” So the king and
Haman went to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

At the banquet of wine the king said to Esther, “What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What
is your request, up to half the kingdom? It shall be done!”

Then Esther answered and said, “My petition and request is this: 8 If I have found favor in the sight
of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, then let the king and
Haman come to the banquet which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has
said.”

Esther 7, Haman Hanged Instead of Mordecai
7:1, So the king and Haman went to dine with Queen Esther. 2 And on the second day, at the banquet
of wine, the king again said to Esther, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you.
And what is your request, up to half the kingdom? It shall be done!”
Then Queen Esther answered and said, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases
the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request. 4 For we have been
sold, my people and I, to be destroyed, to be killed, and to be annihilated. Had we been sold as male
and female slaves, I would have held my tongue, although the enemy could never compensate for the
king’s loss.”

So King Ahasuerus answered and said to Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, who would
dare presume in his heart to do such a thing?”

And Esther said, “The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman!” So Haman was terrified before
the king and queen.

Esther Saves the Jews
Esther 8:1, On that day King Ahasuerus gave Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the
Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her. 2 So the
king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai; and Esther
appointed Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract
the evil of Haman the Agagite, and the scheme which he had devised against the Jews. 4 And the king
held out the golden scepter toward Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king, 5 and said, “If it
pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight and the thing seems right to the king and I am
pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha
the Agagite, which he wrote to annihilate the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces. 6 For how can
I endure to see the evil that will come to my people? Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my
countrymen?”
Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, “Indeed, I have given Esther the
house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the
Jews. 8 You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king’s name, and
seal it with the king’s signet ring; for whatever is written in the king’s name and sealed with the
king’s signet ring no one can revoke.”

So the king’s scribes were called at that time, in the third month, which is the month of Sivan, on the
twenty-third day; and it was written, according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews, the
satraps, the governors, and the princes of the provinces from India to Ethiopia, one hundred and
twenty-seven provinces in all, to every province in its own script, to every people in their own
language, and to the Jews in their own script and language. 10 And he wrote in the name of King
Ahasuerus, sealed it with the king’s signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback, riding on
royal horses bred from swift steeds.

By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect
their lives—to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault
them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions, 12 on one day in all the
provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.

A copy of the document was to be issued as a decree in every province and published for all
people, so that the Jews would be ready on that day to avenge themselves on their enemies. 14 The
couriers who rode on royal horses went out, hastened and pressed on by the king’s command. And
the decree was issued in Shushan the citadel.

So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, with a great
crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor. 17 And in every province and city, wherever the
king’s command and decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a holiday. Then many
of the people of the land became Jews, because fear of the Jews fell upon them.
The king was willing to help when she called out to Him. It is also clear that the King loved her enough
to give her all of His own possessions!
How often do we stand in a poverty and yet have all the wealth our hearts could ever desire right at our
own fingertips!
There are times we do not even remember we have the Father’s ring of authority when we are distressed
on every hand. Our thoughts are racing so rapidly ahead of us in almost a panic! Satan would prefer we
stay in this mode and not recall that God has already given to His children His ring of authority! He sent
the Holy Spirit to be our guarantee and our seal.
Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation;
in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the
guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His
glory.
VIII. MAN’S SEAL IS NEVER STRONG ENOUGH!
Matthew 27:66 So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.
