Gabrielle Barton Biodiversity Essay October 22, 2012 Class A Biodiversity is the variety of life in a certain area. Biodiversity is important to human life because it is our food. Biodiversity helps improve our food crops. Biodiversity helps humans make everyday furniture items, like clothes and medicine. Without biodiversity people would hardly have anything to help them survive. Humans are a main cause in the reducing populations of biodiversity. Human life is expanding everyday and the biodiversity life is decreasing every day, as the human population grows the biodiversity life shrinks. Many species have become extinct because of this and many more have become endangered. The reason for this is humans need to be fed and what they eat are animal meat and crops. When a species in an ecosystem is wiped out then, another species is affected by it. The Bible says in Genesis 1:29-30, “Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.” God told the humans that everything on the earth was to be treated equally, and was to be fed with every green plant. He didn’t say that we could take everything for ourselves which we as humans are basically doing at this point. Every breathing species on earth should not be endangered or extinct because everyone should be treated equally. Biodiversity is life to human beings and life to animals. Biodiversity has cured most people because scientists found a way to use plants as medicine. Humans need to keep biodiversity alive in order for all breathing species to survive. God did not place humans on this earth to kill every living organism he created. He placed humans on this earth to care for everything.
