PTA Meeting Minutes Freshford School PTA Meeting Minutes 3rd May 2012 1.) Review of last meeting: Meeting minutes approved from previous meeting (24/02/2012). 3.) Financial report: Very healthy PTA balance at present. Recent events as summarised below: Auction Copper Amnsety Jumble Sale Disco Cake Sales: Joyce Class Mill Class £1897.30 £144 (To Paralympics GB) £1,200 (approx) £77.17 profit £43.42 £59.14 The PTA wanted to document a very big thank you to all of those who have been involved in organising the above events. Without such amazing parental organisation, cajoling, running and cleaning up they would not have been such a great success. Thank you to the key organisers of the Disco (Catherine Bruton and Sally Gupta) and of the Jumble Sale (Sharon Charlton-Thompson and Di Smith) who drive these events and have said that they will continue to do so next year. 4.) Future Events / Activities Planned: The following events are being planned or co-ordinated by the PTA during the Summer Team. Susannah to post volunteering sheets shortly outside of school office for all events to make it easy to see opportunities to get involved in one central location at the same time. To be accompanied with a single parent mail listing all areas where volunteers are needed. PTA Meeting Minutes Additional volunteers are required for all the events listed below. Notice of Cancellation – George Class Cake Sake 25th May: Owing to the planned events and extensive baking already planned for the School Jubilee event on Friday 25th May, it was decided that the George Class cake sale will be cancelled on that day. Nicola to advise Vicky Wood (George Class cake rep). 6.) PTA Committee Volunteers If anyone wishes to join the PTA Committee, please let Susannah Duval know. The post of Chair is still vacant and could be a shared position. Rebecca Wheeler would be interested in handing over the role of Treasurer if another parent e.g. Accountant was able to take this on. (She would still maintain a role on the PTA Committee.) 7.) Other Actions: Create schedule / calendar of regular PTA events and handover notes to be written up by for next PTA Meeting (last meeting of the academic year) – Susannah Duval. Investigate options for banking to go online – Rebecca Wheeler. Investigate options for charitable donations to the school PTA fund utilising gift aid, linked to a regularised termly contribution for school trips etc – Rebecca Wheeler, Nicola Smith, Nicky Thomas, Helen Lorraine. 8.) Update on Projects for Fundraising Quiet garden (approx. £4,000-£5,000). Alternative quotations currently being sought. Gazebos (e.g. for Fireworks etc.) Claudia Towner submitted application to FLiSCA. Solar panels – being explored. Karen Mackenzie to attend investigatory meeting. Some existing PTA money to spent on additional Dyslexia Resources – Anne Forrest to provide update on costs. 9.) Next PTA Meeting The next PTA meeting is scheduled for Thursday 21st June from 7.45pm at the Inn at Westwood.
