August 24, 2015-August 28, 2015 General Math (2nd, 4th, and 5th) Monday-GAP-Adding and Subtracting Integers. (Supporting Skills for Standard 8.EE.7) I can use the rules for adding and subtracting integers to solve expressions. Students will continue to use their Math Notebook with information regarding subtracting integers. Students will use dry-erase markers to practice subtracting integers. Adding and Subtracting Multiple Integers. Students will play a card game using these skills. Students needing re-teaching on order of operations will small group with the teacher and re-take the order of operations test. Formative Assessment: Observation through Subtracting Integers Practice. Tuesday-Adding and Subtracting Integers in Real World Problems. (Supporting Skills for Standard 8.EE.7) I can use the rules for adding and subtracting integers to solve real world problems. Students will conduct a card sort activity where students will use addition and subtraction of integers to solve real world problems. The class will discuss the cards and review for a quiz tomorrow over adding and subtracting integers in real world problems. Formative Assessment: Silent Poll Wednesday-GAP Multiplication and Division of Integers. (Supporting Skills for Standard 8.EE.7) I can use the rules for multiplying and dividing integers to solve multi-step expressions. Students will take a quiz over addition and subtraction of integers in real world problems. Students will complete notes and will be taught devices to help them remember the rules for multiplication and division of integers(tic, tac, toe, and sleepy man). Students will practice theses skills using dry-erase markers on boards. Formative Assessment: Quiz over Addition and Subtraction of Integers in Real World Problems Thursday- GAP Multiplication and Division of Integers in Real World Problems, Combining Like Terms, Distributive Property. (Supporting Skills for Standard 8.EE.7) We will begin the class completing some real world problems using the integer rules for multiplication and division. We will take notes in our math notebook over combining like terms and using the distributive property. Students will conduct a sort activity over combining like terms. Formative Assessment: Exit Slip: Multiplication and Division of Integers in real World Problems. Friday- GAP Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division of Integers. (Supporting Skills for Standard 8.EE.7) I can use the distributive property to solve multi-step expressions. Students will briefly review addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers. Student will then complete a scavenger hunt using the distributive property with expressions. Formative Assessment: Scavenger Hunt Observation
