Year 7 Schedule (information for parents)
In Mathematics students are set by ability from year 7 to year 11.
Therefore, students in the same year group will often be working on different strands of Mathematics.
Mathematics teachers are flexible in setting homework from a variety of resources to consolidate the learning in class.
Homeworks will either be based on carefully selected worksheets or online homeworks in the form of www.mymaths.co.uk.
Those students without internet access at home would be expected to use the IT facilities in school or in the Library.
Each year 7 student receives 4 lessons of maths a week.
Where teaching groups are split between teachers, the chapters will be split between the teachers so may not follow the
dates as shown below, e.g. a teacher who sees your child once a week may teach one chapter over 4-5 weeks.
Homework is set at least once every 6th lesson as per the school policy, but can be as frequent as once per week.
The teacher who teaches the majority of lessons will usually set the homework.
Year 7’s will be tested after every 3 chapters in the textbook. This will be approximately every half-term.
