The Miss Downriver Outstanding Teen Pageant is an OPEN pageant. The contestant shall be not less than 13 on July 20, 2014 and no more than 17 years of age as of July 1, 2015. The contestant must not have graduated high school as of the state pageant in June 2015. The contestant understands that the Miss America Organization has entered into an agreement with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The agreement, among other things, establishes the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as the Miss America Organization’s National Platform. E a c h t e e n c o n t e s t a n t m u s t e s t a b l i s h a p e r s o n a l p r o f i l e p a g e on the Children’s Miracle Network website, although it is not mandatory to raise donations. The contestant understands and agrees that attendance at rehearsals is mandatory and that any absence without approval of the Executive Director or designated alternate will result in disqualification. The contestant also understands that excused absences will be limited. All rehearsals for the Miss Downriver Scholarship Pageant are restricted to contestants and pageant staff only. The contestant agrees that she will compete in all phases of competition; personal interview, onstage question, talent, active wear, and evening wear. Wardrobe for all areas of competition is the responsibility of the contestant. The contestant shall perform a talent presentation during the pageant. The presentation shall be limited to no longer than ninety seconds. All talent presentations must receive prior approval by the pageant committee. All props used during talent must be functional. No one except the contestant may be on stage during the performance. Musical accompaniment must be recorded and the contestant must supply a quality CD recording to the producer. The contestant agrees that the time, manner and method of judging shall be solely within the discretion of the Miss Downriver Scholarship Program Executive Board, along with the Miss America Organization. The decisions of the judges shall be final. The contestant agrees that she will not make any public appearances representing the pageant without the permission of the Miss Downriver Scholarship Program Executive Board. The Miss America Organization requires that all contestants be of good moral character and never have been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude; never have been convicted of any crime (including alcohol and drug violation) and do not have any criminal charges pending against them, and have never performed any act or engaged in any activity which is or could be characterized as dishonest, immoral, immodest, indecent or in bad taste. The contestant agrees that if she is selected as Miss Downriver Outstanding Teen 2014, she will serve as the title-holder until her successor is chosen and will remain bound by these rules and regulations for the term of her year of service. Failure to comply with these rules and regulations may result in a contestant’s disqualification by the Miss Downriver Scholarship Program Executive Board.
