Staff Job Descriptions
Business Manager



















Is licensed as a level I or II business manager according to the NMPED licensure
Develops and implements financial policies and procedures
Maintains compliance with NMAC, NMSA, GASB, and GAAP
Prepares the annual budget and submits it to the Board to be evaluated and approved
Formulates and submits Budget Adjustment Requests
Maintains cash receipts and enters revenue to proper funds in the general ledger
Processes payroll and related liability expenditures
Issues journal entries in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
Processes accounts payable according to administrative policy
Completes bank reconciliations on a monthly basis
Monitors cash flow to ensure it is adequate to cover monthly liabilities
Safeguards financial records; complies with the State Record Retention Act
Prepares monthly and quarterly state and federal tax reports
Assists with grant application writing and reporting
Prepares quarterly cash reports and other related reports required by the NMPED
Tracks the accrual of requested time off
Approves purchase orders and maintains vendor invoices
Coordinates with State Auditor for annual audit

Records student attendance and staff absences and processes substitute requests
Registers students for classes annually
Completes STARS reporting
Answers the phone and makes phone calls as necessary
Assists and directs visitors
Files student records and grants record requests according to SABE policy
Keeps track of supplies and equipment
Receives and inspects goods
Maintains cash receipts book, completes deposit slips, and coordinates these actions with the
Business Manager
Prepares Board Meeting agendas as directed by the Principal
Reports to Principal
Curriculum Coordinator














Licensed as a New Mexico Teacher and holds a bilingual endorsement and a TESOL endorsement
Sits on the Curriculum Committee with the principal and the ESL Coordinator to approve school
curriculum
Acts as a liaison between SABE and partner organizations including DLENM, and NMABE
Acts as a liaison between Principal and teachers
Oversees the development of a culturally significant, effective school-wide curriculum
Oversees the coordination of curriculum and support services
Assists teachers in creation of curriculum
Provides professional development at the school level and through partner organizations to
teach best practices in dual-language education
Stays up-to-date with new curriculum mandates and changing student needs and current
research pertaining to dual language education
Oversees the acquisition, adaptation, and incorporation of new classroom materials into
curriculum
Monitors the articulation of curriculum across all classrooms and grade levels and reports
concerns back to the principal
Assures that SABE curriculum is well-aligned with Common Core Standards, State Standards, and
facilitates high-level learning
Assures that SABE curriculum is incorporating thematic units and high-yield strategies of
bilingual education
Reports to Principal
ESL Coordinator














Licensed as a New Mexico Teacher and holds a bilingual endorsement and a TESOL endorsement
Sits on the Curriculum Committee with the Principal and the Curriculum Coordinator to approve
school curriculum
Acts as a liaison between the Principal and teachers and between SABE and parents
Administers (and/or oversees the administration of) placement tests including the W-APT and
ACCESS tests
Stays up-to-date with current research pertaining to ESL education
Oversees and works closely with teachers to meet the ESL needs of the SABE student body
Orders tests and other materials and resources
Monitors student growth by analyzing and keeping data and reporting information to the
principal
Assures that SABE is in compliance with all state and national ESL mandates
Takes care of state reporting of ESL services
Applies for grants
Provides professional development to teachers about ESL services and accommodations
Creates support and outreach systems for SABE students, their families, and the community
Reports to Principal
Special Ed Teacher











Licensed as a New Mexico Teacher and holds a special ed endorsement
Coordinates annual IEP meetings, reevaluations, and IEP modifications
Schedules testing with diagnostician
Coordinates with ancillary staff and educational assistance to provide individualized attention
for special needs students and ensure that needs are met in the Least Restrictive Environment
Keeps IEP and supporting records and makes them available to concerned parties; transfers
records to and from other schools
Consults with principal about policies and procedures involving special needs students
Submits state reports regarding special needs students
Participates in SAT meetings
Helps special needs students transition to high school
Attends special education professional development
Reports to Principal
Classroom Teacher










Licensed as a New Mexico Teacher and holds a bilingual endorsement
Uses innovative instruction to fulfill the mission of SABE in his/her classroom
Creates lesson plans that align with state standards while accommodating the needs of
individual students
Records student grades and progress
Ensures that students' classroom activities are consistent with the information in IEP's or ESL
evaluations, when appropriate
Manages the classroom in accordance with SABE's discipline policy
Attends staff meetings and professional development
Monitors student progress through data
Communicates regularly with parents (including parent-teacher conferences)
Reports to Principal
Educational Assistant






Licensed as a New Mexico Educational Assistant
Serves as a support to classroom teacher and fulfills responsibilities as delegated by the teacher
Interacts positively with students to help fulfill SABE's mission
Attends staff meetings and professional development when Principal determines there is a need
Works in a specialized designation as dictated by the Principal (e.g. Fine Arts, Kindergarten,
Special Ed)
