Northwest Pediatrics follows the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for well care and immunizations. This practice does not support alternative vaccine schedules, or not vaccinating your child. We expect all patients in the practice to be vaccinated. PRACTICE LOCATION: 2835 Horse Pen Creek Rd. Suite 101 Directions: From Battleground, turn on Horse Pen Creek Rd. by the Dollar Tree and BP gas station. Pass Caldwell Academy on the right and Montessori School on the left. Northwest Pediatrics is on the right, beside K. Alex Poole Dentistry and near the Kidney Center. From Bryan Blvd., take the New Garden Rd. exit to Horse Pen Creek Rd. (beside the Harris Teeter). Northwest Pediatrics is 1.2 miles on the left, before the Montessori School. We encourage families to call as needed. Northwest Pediatrics is available for questions 24 hours a day. A nurse will return your phone call and if necessary, consult with a provider. CALL COVERAGE: Please call our number for after-hours questions or concerns (call 911 for emergencies). A triage nurse will address your concerns. If the nurse is unable to help you, the on-call provider will be contacted. There is a provider available 24 hours a day. We do not share call with any other groups. Our nurse practitioner and physician assistant also take call with physician back-up. We recommend Moses Cone Hospital for all pediatric emergency room visits. WELL-CHILD VISITS: Newborns are usually seen 48-72 hours after discharge from the hospital. Our routine well visits are at: 2 weeks, 2 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, and every year thereafter. These check-ups usually involve assessments of growth, development, and physical exam. Many of these visits involve immunizations. Northwest Pediatrics follows the American Academy of Pediatrics immunization practice. PROVIDERS: Dr. Janet Dees Undergraduate Degree: Davidson College 1988 Medical Degree: East Carolina University School of Medicine 1992 Pediatric Residency: Medical College of Georgia 1995 Master of Business Administration: Wake Forest University 2001 American Academy of Pediatrics Board Recertification: 2012 Dr. Dees began practicing in the Greensboro and High Point area in 1995. As a native of Greensboro, and after receiving her MBA in 2001, she started Northwest Pediatrics, Inc. She has thoroughly enjoyed watching her patients grow and develop along with our practice. While Dr. Dees stated as Northwest Pediatrics only physician, we have since flourished to include 6 physicians, a nurse practitioner and physician assistant. Dr.Dees believes our greatest strength is our team approach to patient care. She has 2 children and spends time outside the office with her family. Dr. Kate Vapne Undergraduate & Medical Degree: Second Moscow State Medical Institute, Moscow, Russia 1991 Pediatric Residency: Maimonides Medical Center 2001 American Academy of Pediatrics Board Recertification: 2011 Dr. Vapne joined Northwest Pediatrics, Inc. in 2004 after several years of private practice in New York. She is originally from Russia. She is the mother of 2 boys, and is known for her kindness and compassion. She loves taking care of her dogs and cats in her free time. Dr. Jennifer Summer Undergraduate Degree: Bucknell University 1994 Medical Degree: State University of New York Health Science Center - Syracuse 1999 Pediatric Residency: Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center 2002 American Academy of Pediatrics Board Recertification: 2012 Dr. Summer joined Northwest Pediatrics, Inc. in 2008 after several years of private practice in Greensboro. She has a special interest in international adoptions. Dr. Summer recently served three years on Cone Health’s Medical Executive Committee. She is an energetic mom to her 2 wonderful children. Dr. Preston Lentz Undergraduate Degree: NC State University 1978 Medical Degree: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 1982 Pediatric Residency: Medical College of Virginia 1985 American Academy of Pediatrics Board Recertification: 2009 Dr. Lentz joined Northwest Pediatrics, Inc. in 2008 after 20 years of practice in the Greensboro Area. He is a native of Burlington, NC and an avid tennis player. He is a proud grandfather whose own granddaughter is one of our patients. He is known for his fun sense of humor and his generosity with the staff. Dr. Gina White Undergraduate Degree: Louisiana State University 2006 Medical Degree: Wake Forest University School of Medicine 2011 Pediatric Residency: Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center 2014 Dr. White, while originally from Louisiana, now calls North Carolina home. She joined Northwest Pediatrics, Inc. in September of 2014 after completing her residency. She loves all things pediatric, but has a special interest in infants and breastfeeding. She spends her free time with her 2 young children and enjoys gardening and cooking. Dr. Ashley Xu Undergraduate Degree: Davidson College 2005 Medical Degree: Wake Forest University School of Medicine 2009 Pediatric Residency: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center 2012 Since completing residency in 2012, Dr. Xu has been practicing in Winston-Salem. She and her family moved to Greensboro recently, and joined Northwest Pediatrics in August of 2014. She is inspired by the opportunity to help children and families through the trials and joys of infancy and childhood. She believes her experience as a mom has made her a better pediatrician. Rachel Mills, PNP Undergraduate Degree: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 1993 Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Degree: Emory University 1996 Rachel worked for several years at Guilford Child Health in High Point before joining Northwest Pediatrics in 2002. She grew up in the Jamestown area and stays busy with her 3 children. She is an exceptional nurse practitioner and enjoys seeing children of all ages. Donna Brandon, PA-C Undergraduate Degree: Florida State University, 1982 Physician Assistant Degree: Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine, 1993 Physician Assistant National Recertification: 2013 Donna joined Northwest Pediatrics, Inc. in 2004 after 10 years of private practice pediatric experience. Donna is gifted in all aspects of pediatric care, both well care and sick care. She is a busy mom to 2 active and fun-loving children.
