JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Department: Reports To: Location: FLSA Status: Work Schedule: Role with Agency: Career Pathways Associate Career Pathways Education and Career Pathways Manager Cotati, California Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt From Wage and Hour Laws 20 hours a week Significant interaction with Staff and Corpsmembers SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Education & Career Pathways Manager, the Career Pathways Associate implements the JMCS Career Pathways curriculum, and provides case management services to all Corpsmembers. This includes referrals to support services, orientation, assessments, in-program career development, transitional services, job placement, and postplacement follow-up. The Career Pathways Associate provides case management, counseling and support services to corpsmembers from a variety of backgrounds, on an ongoing basis. S/he coaches all corpsmembers on job retention strategies by implementing Career Pathways curriculum and assisting corpsmembers in identifying & overcoming barriers to success. This individual develops and maintains relationships with local social service providers in order to effectively refer corpsmembers to support services. S/he provides up to two (2) years of continued personal, career and educational counseling for corpsmembers. S/he maintains student files and information pertaining to student progress and tracks data for reports & proposals. The Career Pathways Associate ensures that all high school graduates in the program receive high quality educational services weekly. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. File Maintenance Create, and maintain corpsmember files, including case notes of services provided and documentation of milestones achieved. Compile case notes and materials from other Career Pathways staff into corpsmember files for annual file review. Case Management & Support Services Conduct assessments with all Corpsmembers at enrollment and every 3 months to determine identify barriers to job retention. Provide individualized support services dependent on corpsmember needs such as housing, healthcare, childcare, transportation, food assistance, etc. Conduct outreach to local social service providers to maintain a network of support service referrals. Guide corpsmembers through social service systems. Career Development Implement the JMCS Career Pathways Curriculum with Corpsmembers on caseload. Conduct outreach to local employers, local, state organizations and educational institutions. Develop and maintain a network of employer contacts to facilitate job placement for corpsmembers Work with Career Pathways Staff to organize specific events related to corpsmember development such as career panels, educational planning workshops, guest speakers, and visits with local employers. Work with Career Pathways staff to place Corpsmembers who have completed the program in college and career. Career Pathways Graduate Education Meet weekly with all CCNB Corpsmembers who have earned their High School Diplomas (graduates) to implement JMCS Career Pathways Curriculum. Corpsmember Follow-up and Tracking Provide up to two years of continued personal, career, and educational counseling to CCNB Corpsmembers. Track educational and career progress. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The Career Pathways Associate has: Excellent organizational and time management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to motivate, encourage, and support young adults from a wide variety of social, educational and economic backgrounds. Knowledge of support services available in Sonoma County. Teaching and/or tutoring experience. Other requirements include: Experience in case management, counseling, career/employment. development and/or social services. Ability to build relationships with social service and job placement providers. Motivation to work with high risk youth. Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills (conflict resolution, counseling, coaching) Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff. Computer literacy (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy on the job. Education: Associate’s degree OR 2 years of college completed.
