There are many conversations that are difficult, and may not get the results desired. The skills in this program work for both high stress work and personal situations. Participants will practice the skills and behaviors of effective dialogue in challenging situations, and apply to situations in their experience. Topics include oral history taking, recognition of dementia and delirium, cognition and wellness among community dwelling older adults, assessment and treatment of pain and distress behaviors in delirium and dementia, adult abuse/neglect/exploitation, managing side effects of antipsychotics, transitions of care, older adult drivers, and intercultural panel of older adults . The session June 12 will focus is on patient-centered management of pediatric asthma. Included in this session: signs and symptoms, common triggers, how to use the asthma guidelines, appropriate medications and devices for age and developmental ability, how to education families and the impact. This program focuses on the unique situation and needs of women with substance abuse and associated risk factors of domestic violence and recovery needs. Interprofessional dialogue will exchange research and practice on gender-responsive, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed principles and practices. This event is relevant for prevention, mental health, legal, enforcement and corrections, addiction treatment and recovery professionals. This program uses an applied learning approach. Participants will have the opportunity to work together in applying common Quality Improvement tools and techniques to engage in improvement work appropriate to their healthcare setting. Current best practices in wound management from early assessment and intervention to new, advanced treatments will be discussed. Participants will have a brief, pre-program assignment. Content covered in the program includes: competency assessment, role of the preceptor, adult learning, teams and generations, culture shock, communicating for results, conflict resolution, and exercises to interact in small groups exchanging resources and ideas from the program with the group.
