Read and use the sample notes below to help you along with designing your ‘Own-Made’ quiz.
Type, save, and print (tsp = ‘teaspoon method’) your QUIZ; ‘tsp’ a separate document as your ANSWER
KEY.
Proofread and edit before your final draft is due.
You and your lab partner will complete each other’s quiz, peer-conference, and be a good buddy to each
other providing accuracy of content AND helpful strategies for studying the content.  
Your original quiz that YOU MADE will be returned to you in order to help you for further studying!
Follow the ‘partial’ sample quiz below to get you off to a great start in designing your OWN-MADE QUIZ.
(For example: FIRST = Observe how you need to type ‘Name, Date, Sci. Period’ so your lab partner can
record his/ her heading at the top of their quiz. SECOND = Observe how you will need to not only type
each of the ‘sub-categories’ of the entire quiz, such as ‘Part I’, then ‘Part II, etc., but ALSO label each subcategory with a title AND directions that help your partner clarify what to do within that particular
category.)
Name
Date
Sci. period
Part I. Completion – Fill in the blank to complete the sentence accurately. (Memo: Students, you may
include a word bank.)
Word Bank:
40
base
Etc (other word, perhaps one that won’t be applied!!)
1. High Power Objective Lens magnifies about _________x
2. ______________ supports the microscope.
3. Etc.
Part II. Matching – Draw lines from the left column of parts of the microscope to the right column of
functions. (Memo: For designing ‘Matching’ items, you may choose a different method to show
‘matching’. There are other ways to ‘match’ rather than drawing lines. For instance, you may
label/assign each term/ part of the microscope in the ‘left column’ with an alphabetical letter A,
B.C,D, etc. BEFORE the term, and then for the ‘right column’ of functions, just type a line preceding
each function, allowing your partner to ‘Record the best letter choice from the 1st column of
microscope parts onto the line preceding the correct matching function from the 2nd column. Of
course, you may paraphrase my sample! 
Arm
Mirror
Stage
Eye Piece
High Power Objective Lens
Supports the body tube
Supports the slide being used
OR this set-up…
A.
B.
C.
D.
E.
Arm
Mirror
Stage
Eye Piece
High Power Objective Lens
______ Supports the body tube
______Supports the slide being used
Part III. Multiple Choice – Circle the best answer in each item.
1. The function of the ‘Mirror’ is to….
a. Supports the body tube
b. Moves the body tube for focusing with the low power objective lens
c. Reflect light upward through the diaphragm
d. None of the above (Here you may try, “Both a & b are correct”! This method is good
practice for building our ‘critical-thinking’ strategy!  )…
Helpful Hint = Always make your quiz as ‘challenging’, yet fair, as possible. Do not include ‘silly’
choices that are obviously incorrect; rather, look to apply your higher-level thinking input! Awesome.
