REGULATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE 2015 NORTHERN REGIONS OFF ROAD
SENIOR MOTORCYCLE AND QUAD CHAMPIONSHIP
Note: These regulations are to be read in conjunction with the 2015 Standing Supplementary Regulations for Off-Road
Motorcycles and Quads. In the event that there is any conflict between regional and national rules, the national
rules shall, at all times prevail.
MSA NORTHERN REGIONS MOTORSPORT CIRCULAR NR 20/15
These Regulations are to be read in conjunction with the General Competition Rules (GCR's) and Standing Supplementary
Regulations (SSR's) contained in the 2015 MSA Handbook.
1) VALIDITY OF REGULATIONS
These Regulations are applicable to the 2015 calendar year
2) ELIGIBILITY OF RIDERS
Refer SSR 325 in the National Offroad Mcycle & Quad Regulations
Competitors may not compete in more than one class.
All riders must be domiciled within the area controlled by the MSA Northern Regions Motorsport Committee and riders
domiciled in the KZN / Northern Cape / Free State may also be scored in the MSA Northern Regions Championship.
3) ELIGIBILITY OF MOTORCYCLES & QUADS
No restrictions on modifications to engine, gearbox, frame, suspension or any other component providing the safety of
the motorcycle is not impaired in any way, and complies with the safety requirements listed below:
Refer to SSR 325 and SSR 331 in the National Offroad Mcycle & Quad Regulations, for senior motorcycle class
specifications.
4) SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Refer SSR 329 in the National Offroad Mcycle & Quad Regulations
5) THE ROUTE AND START
The route shall consist of:
a) Three (3) to Four (4) laps of 50km to 60km in distance.
b) Minimum of 150km and a Maximum 200km total race distance.
c) Approximate 3 hour race time for the leaders.
6) STARTING ORDER
a) The order in which competitors will be started shall be decided by the previous year’s overall points from highest
to lowest to determine the starting order for the first event of the season.
b) From then on by overall points gained in the championship thus far, thereafter the riders with class points but no
overall points will be seeded as follows:
Motorcycles: OR1, OR2, OR3, Senior, High School, Master, Ladies
Quads: Q1, Q2, Senior, High School, Master, Ladies
c) Late entries will start at the back.
7) ROUTE CHECK CONTROLS
Refer to SSR 343 in the National Offroad Mcycle & Quad Regulations
8) TO QUALIFY AS A FINISHER
To be classified as a finisher of an event a competitors will be required to complete the full distance of the event. The
competitor with the least total time including any penalties in each class and be declared the class & overall winners of
the event.
9) NUMBER COLOURS OF NUMBERS AND BACKING PLATES

10) ROUTE MARKING
Refer to SSR 340 in the National Offroad Mcycle & Quad Regulations of the 2015 MSA Handbook pertaining to Off-Road
Motorcycle/Quad events. (Orange markers may also be used).
11) CHAMPIONSHIP POINT SCORING
For Overall and Class Championships

12) MINIMUM NUMBER OF STARTERS
a) For a Championship to be declared there must be a minimum of 6 starters per Regional class.
b) Classes which do not field the required average number of starters will not be scored towards the championship
standings and the average calculated at the completion of the championship.
13) AIM OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP
a) To declare a Northern Regions Motorsport motorcycle and quad champions in each of the following classes:
b) Motorcycles : OR1, OR2, OR3, Senior, Master, High School, Ladies
c) Quads : Q1, Q2, Senior, Master, High School, Ladies
14) DECLARATION OF CHAMPIONS
The MSA Northern Regions Motorsport Committee, at its sole discretion, will declare the winners of the Championship,
and is entitled to withhold such declaration from any competitor, should circumstances warrant such action. If less than
5 (five) events are run or scored, the Northern Regions Motorsport Committee reserves the right to withhold the
declaration of champions
15) SEPARATION OF TIES
Any ties will be in favour of the competitor having the greater number of firsts. If this fails, the greater number of
seconds will count, then thirds and so on. If the tie still remains, performance in all championship events will be taken
into consideration and if this is ineffective, the MSA Northern Regions Motorsport Committee will declare the winner on
any basis it may deem fit.
16) ENTRY FEES
a) The maximum entry fees are R650.00, including all levies and Timing services charges
b) Where an event is a shared event, (part of a national race), the club shall be entitled to add a NR entry fee of no
more than R100.00.
17) COMPETITORS CONDUCT
Refer to SSR 347 in the National Offroad Mcycle & Quad Regulations in the 2015 MSA Handbook pertaining to Off Rd
M/Cycle & Quad events.
18) AWARDS
a) Any competitor not attending the prize giving will forfeit his/her award. (Applicable to all Classes)
b) In the case of a competitor having been injured, a letter must be handed to the Clerk of the Course prior to the prize
giving taking place.
The 2015 Off Road Championship consist of the dates as in the 2015 MSA Calendar only. Should any event be cancelled or
date changes occur due to force majeure, these may only be approved by the 2015 Sub-committee and the Northern Regions
Committee.
