Dr. Cynthia Ward, VMD Dr. Ward received her VMD and PhD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed residency training at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania in small animal internal medicine, and a reproductive endocrinology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She was on faculty of the University of Pennsylvania until 2005 when she moved to the University of Georgia where she is currently a professor of small animal internal medicine. She is also the Chief Medical Officer of the Small Animal Hospital. Dr. Ward has been honored by numerous teaching awards including: the Alumni Teaching Award in 2003, the Norden Distinguished Teaching Award in 2000 and 2009, and the National SCAVMA Teaching Award in 2009. She has an active research program in clinical and basic endocrinology. She has authored numerous research abstracts, journal articles, and book chapters. Dr. Ward is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Her research interested include small animal endocrinology, feline hyperthyroidism and feline/canine diabetes mellitus. 2014 Spring Meeting of the Southern Illinois Veterinary Medical Association Dr. Donna Manley Dr. Manley joined BI Vetmedica Inc in January 2013 and currently serves as the Professional Services Veterinarian for the central Region covering portions of 6 states. She is a 1992 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has 20 years of experience in the field of small animal medicine practicing “mixed” small animal (dog/cat), feline exclusive, emergency medicine, and an open admissions municipal based county shelter. She has held positions as associate veterinarian, relief veterinarian, hospital manager (feline practice), and medical services director/staff veterinarian (shelter). She was the 2012 Preisdent of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and served on the AAFP Board from 2008-2013. Within the AAFP, she has served as Chairperson of the Guidelines Committee since 2008 and liason to the Committee and Board directly facilitating the production of guidelines since 2010. Her personal interests/activites include serving as a volunteer spay/neuter surgeon for Operation Catnip TNR program in Raleigh, NC, British and European history, international travel, bicycling and photography.
