Office of Field Experiences
Applications for field experiences are due to your instructor by the third week of
class. You can access the student teaching application on the NCE Tools page
www.nl.edu/ncetools/sectools
Please refer to the Teacher Education Program Checklist at:
http://www.nl.edu/ncetools/materialsforcandidates/ for information regarding Criminal
Background Check, TB test, and Mandated Reporter Training. These requirements
must be completed and the results submitted with the application for student
teaching, before a student can be considered for placement. Submission of
these three items is also required before you observe at schools to complete
your field experience hours.
Students planning to complete Practicum and/or Student Teaching in Chicago Public
Schools must register online. The Field Experience Registration Guide can be
accessed at: http://www.cpsstudentteachprogram.com/
Students must register for both Practicum and Student Teaching.
Once OFE receives your completed application, they will begin the placement process.
Please note: OFE will have one active site request for each student, at any given time
in the placement process.
After receiving a response from the school site, OFE will either:
1. Notify student of placement confirmation, or
2. Submit another request (if previous request for placement was denied) and
will continue to do so, until a placement is secured.
