National College of Education Office of Field Experiences Applications for field experiences are due to your instructor by the third week of class. You can access the student teaching application on the NCE Tools page www.nl.edu/ncetools/sectools Please refer to the Teacher Education Program Checklist at: http://www.nl.edu/ncetools/materialsforcandidates/ for information regarding Criminal Background Check, TB test, and Mandated Reporter Training. These requirements must be completed and the results submitted with the application for student teaching, before a student can be considered for placement. Submission of these three items is also required before you observe at schools to complete your field experience hours. Students planning to complete Practicum and/or Student Teaching in Chicago Public Schools must register online. The Field Experience Registration Guide can be accessed at: http://www.cpsstudentteachprogram.com/ Students must register for both Practicum and Student Teaching. Once OFE receives your completed application, they will begin the placement process. Please note: OFE will have one active site request for each student, at any given time in the placement process. After receiving a response from the school site, OFE will either: 1. Notify student of placement confirmation, or 2. Submit another request (if previous request for placement was denied) and will continue to do so, until a placement is secured. What to do if… -you have questions about student teaching application --- contact your university advisor. SDRB If you have an emergency that results in your absence during Student Teaching, contact your cooperating teacher immediately; then contact your supervisor. If there is an issue that arises at your placement site, contact your supervisor immediately. 10/27/15 OFE will send the placement confirmation packet to each student’s official NLU email address, and assign a mentor/supervisor.
