Grand Knight Lou Diaz was guest speaker at the September meeting. He outlined his plans for
the fraternal year, and shared numerous important Council calendar items with the Auxiliary
ladies. He stated that he would like to hold one business meeting a month for the Council and
have a social, possibly a pot luck dinner on the fourth Wednesday of each month. He is strongly
encouraging the Ft Meade community to take part in the Council. We look forward to working
with GK Diaz and supporting his efforts with the Council.
Old Business:
The awards presented to the Ladies of the Living Rosary at the Convention in May were on
display. We hope to get them put up in the Ladies corner soon.
New Business:
Jean McConville requested suggestions from the ladies regarding possible fundraising
opportunities. Dawn Bleess feels that Quarter Auctions are no longer successful. After much
discussion including holding a Mardi Gras party it was decided that the Auxiliary has enough
funds to do the Christmas Family Charity without a specific fundraising effort this year. Carol
Bailey graciously volunteered to Chair that effort again this year.
Hilda Diaz asked that the Auxiliary consider supporting an Indian Reservation or a charity in
support of indigenous people of America.
Sandy Garrick thanked the Auxiliary for their support of St. Lawrence Martyr’s Gabriel Network
mothers. She also thanked Jean McConville for her donation of baby formula and asked the
ladies to consider making a personal donation to the Network. Sandy also asked that the Auxiliary
continue to collect pull tabs from soda cans.
Margaret Kitlas volunteered to chair the Christmas Decorations committee. Sandy will call
Lenore Fisher to see if she knows anywhere to buy decorations wholesale. Margaret suggested
we purchase from Hobby Lobby using coupons as the quality is good.
