Katerina Petrova (a.k.a. Katherine Pierce), is a vampire and the former lover to both the Salvatore brothers Damon and Stefan. Katerina first appeared in recurring flashbacks, depicting her physically romantic relationship with the Salvatore brothers, eventually turning them both into vampires, but was captured by the townspeople of Mystic Falls to be destroyed. To Klaus's knowledge she is a part of the Petrova Doppelgängers. However, behind her sweet nature, Katherine revealed her deceptive side and escaped her would-be death with the help of George Lockwood. 145 years later, Katherine returned to Mystic Falls and started toying with the Salvatores again, cutting off her loose ends by destroying the tomb vampires. Katherine was deeply hated for the murder and the turning of Caroline Forbes into a vampire and using a werewolf, Mason Lockwood, to retrieve the moonstone, an essential element to break The Sun and the Moon Curse. Katherine is exposed as a doppelgänger who spent her immortal life fleeing from an Original named Klaus. And although she chose Stefan over Damon, she promised John Gilbert that she would help protect her descendant Elena Gilbert, who is the center of the Salvatore brothers hearts. She is initially portrayed as the main antagonist, but the arrival of Elijah, an Original vampire, diminishes her attitude and frightens her with the knowledge of Klaus. Her current whereabouts are still unknown since Homecoming. Katerina Petrova is a member of the Petrova Family. Katerina asking to see her daughter. Katerina Petrova (Cyrillic Катерина Петрова) was born into a poor Bulgarian family in 1475. In 1490, Katerina became pregnant by an unknown man, and her family disowned her for the shameful birth of an illegitimate daughter. She carried the child to term, but seconds after her daughter's birth, Katerina's father took the child away, claiming it would be better for both of them to never see one another. Katerina was devastated by this and was banished to England. After being banished to England, she quickly adjusted by becoming English. In 1492, she met Trevor, who introduced her Lord Elijah, who in turn introduced her to his younger brother, Lord Niklaus. Katerina was attracted to Klaus, until she found out what he was, and that he was planning on using her as a sacrifice to break the curse placed on him. She escaped with the help of Trevor, who had fallen in love with her. He led her pursuers astray and told her to go east, to a cottage in the woods where she would be safe. When she arrived at a cottage, Katerina met a lady by the name of Rose. When Rose found out that she had escaped from Klaus with the moonstone, she locked her in a room and told her that she would take her to Klaus as soon as the opportunity arose Katherine in 1492 Katerina tried to commit suicide by stabbing herself with a knife, saying she would rather die than go back to Klaus, but Rose force-fed her some of her blood to heal her. When Rose turned her back to confront Trevor, Katerina hung herself with a length of rope. Later, when she woke up as vampire, Trevor asked why she did it and claimed he would've helped her live. Katerina responds by saying that he would have been able to help her run and that running was never ever going to be enough. Rose then explains to Trevor that Katerina used him to escape and, knowing Klaus will see their role in the escape, Rose attempted to kill Katerina with a stake. Katerina used the owner of the cabin as a shield, which resulted in her death. Katerina then gave in to her instincts and drained the little old lady, completing her transition into a vampire. She then threw the body towards Rose and Trevor and fled into the night. Katerina returned to Bulgaria in the latter months of 1492 to find all her family members brutually slaughtered by Klaus; she knew it was his form of revenge for her escape and subsequent transition. She was last seen in this time period crying over her mother's dead body. 1864 Years passed and Katerina made her way to America, where she changed her name to Katherine Pierce to avoid detection by Klaus, who was still actively hunting her. At some point she became friends with Pearl and her daughter, Anna, and she saved the life of the witch Emily Bennett, putting Emily in her debt. Emily forged her a special piece of jewelry with the stone Lapis Lazuli which allowed her to walk in the sun without being burned. In 1864, Katherine moved to a small town called Mystic Falls, where she was taken in by one of the town's founders, Giuseppe Salvatore. Katherine met and fell in love with his son Stefan Salvatore, though she quickly began a physical relationship with Stefan's older brother, Damon. Katherine created quite a few vampires while living in Mystic Falls, which inevitably alerted the Founding Families of their existence. When she found Vervain in an elixir available at the local store, Katherine's friend Pearl tried to convince her to leave, but Katherine refused, claiming she had a plan in motion. Her plan, it turned out, was to charm both of the Salvatore brothers, making them fall in love with her. She slept with both of them and compelled them to keep the secret from each other and from the others in town. She fed them her blood because she planned to turn them into vampires. Katherine In 1864 Realizing how quickly the Founder's Council would take action against the vampires, Katherine struck a deal with George Lockwood: She would give him the moonstone if he would help her fake her death. Eventually, Stefan accidentally hinted to his father that he knew a vampire and Katherine's identity was revealed. Giuseppe spiked Stefan's drink and, that very same night, Katherine bit him. She was disabled by the Vervain in his bloodstream, and Giuseppe burst in to take her away. Damon later went to rescue her, and Stefan, upset that he had hurt his brother, helped him in the effort. They were both killed trying to save her, shot by their own father, Giuseppe, who was ashamed his sons had fallen for a vampire. Katherine leaving town and promises Stefan that they will be together again. Katherine and the other vampires were taken to Fell's Church to be destroyed, but George helped Katherine escape. She gave George the moonstone, but instead of leaving right away, she turned to see Damon and Stefan's bodies lying in the road. She ran to Stefan, kissed him, and promised they would be together again someday. After transitioning into a vampire, Damon was told by Emily that Katherine was trapped in the tomb beneath the church, and as a result, the older Salvatore never stopped loving Katherine as he waited for the day he would rescue her. In reality, Katherine was still lying low to evade Klaus, and she kept a close eye on the younger Salvatore brother, pointing out that she saw him in the front row of a concert in 1920 to prove that she'd always been watching over him. 1920s During the roaring 1920s, Katherine was a dancer in Chicago, as well as an observer over her former lover Stefan Salvatore. Katherine found Rebekah's necklace when trouble broke out in Gloria's Bar, and wanted to take it, but ran away before Stefan could see or notice her. Season One Katherine stabs John Gilbert. When Katherine learned of the escape of the Tomb vampires, she gave her descendant and friend, Isobel, a Lapis Lazuli medallion, enabling the young vampire to walk in the sun. Katherine needed the tomb vampires dead because she didn't want Klaus to find out she was still alive so she had Isobel retrieve Johnathan Gilbert's invention and give it to John Gilbert to use against the vampires in Mystic Falls. This resulted in the deaths of several tomb vampires. After the chaos settled, Katherine stole Elena Gilbert's clothes and went to her house, where she posed as Elena in the presence of Damon. The two kissed, only to be interrupted by Elena's aunt, Jenna Sommers. Unaware of the presence of vampires or the existence of Katherina, Jenna invited her into the house. Katherine appeared near John Gilbert in the kitchen, still pretending to be Elena. She noticed the Resurrection ring he was wearing and, using a butcher's knife, chopped his fingers off. She then stabbed him. Elena arrived and came to John's aid while Katherine hovered behind her. Season Two Seeing John Gilbert seriously injured, Elena calls for help and is terrified by Katherine's super-speed around the house before leaving. She wreaked havoc for Damon and Stefan, confusing them of who she really loved. Also, she threatened Bonnie, claiming that it never ended well for Bennett witches, but Bonnie used her powers on Katherine, like she did earlier on Damon. Katherine watches Elena Katherine "acted" like she was in pain, but because she was very old, she had a certain resistance to supernatural phenomena. She admitted to Stefan that she returned for him, but she was furious because he told her that he hated her. She was furious at the fact of Stefan picking Elena over her. Enraged, she stabs him with a metal rod. Damon demanded the truth after he and Katherine kissed heavily, and she confessed that she never loved him and that "it will always be Stefan" that she loved. Later, she went to see Caroline Forbes and told her to give the Salvatore's a message: "Game on." She killed Caroline by smothering her with a pillow, while knowing full well she still had Damon's blood in her system and would come back as a vampire. Katherine next to Caroline to Caroline as she was waking up, as Katherine gained access to Caroline's house after Caroline's mother mistook her for Elena and invited her in. Katherine appeared and told Caroline to not be frightened, and that they were going to have so much fun together. Katherine revealed some shocking secrets to Stefan, as she made him dream that he was at the 1864 Founder's Ball with her. While there, he noticed that Damon had found someone to entertain himself with. It was shown for that person Damon had in his arms was Elena. Stefan saw, in his dream, that Damon and Elena were on a date and were kissing. Later on after the dream ended, Stefan thought he was holding Elena in his arms, but then realized it was Katherine. Later on, the two talked and Katherine proved that she never compelled Stefan to love her, his love for her being real, and she only compelled him to cover up his fear of vampires. Also, it was revealed that Katherine escaped the tomb with the help of a werewolf, George Lockwood, to whom after she got out, Katherine gave the Moonstone. In 1864, she also betrayed her best friend Pearl and all the other tomb vampires just to fake her own death. However, she was in love with Stefan, and genuinely cared about him. After the interrogation, she finally met her doppelganger, Elena. The Salvatores try to kill Katherine. It was soon revealed that she was sleeping with Mason Lockwood, whom she had been using to find the Moonstone to hand over to Klaus to be free from him and to break The Sun and the Moon Curse. But she needed a werewolf to do so. After Mason was killed, Katherine had compelled Matt to pick a fight with Tyler, so that Tyler would kill him and trigger the curse, because Katherine needed a new werewolf to replace Mason. Katherine decided to retrieve the moonstone herself with the help of Lucy, a witch. She danced with Stefan but when he refused to hand over the stone, she killed Aimee Bradley. Caroline successfully lured Katherine into a room upstairs that Bonnie had put a spell on so vampires couldn't get out. In the attempt to kill her, Damon and Stefan partook in an intense fight between the three of them. Damon imprisons Katherine. Lucy, however, had cast a spell over Katherine and Elena so whatever happened to Katherine would happen to Elena. However, Lucy turned the tables on her and worked with Bonnie, using a spell that incapacitated her. When she woke up, she was imprisoned in the tomb where Damon said she should have been for a long time. As Damon closed the door of the tomb, Katherine screamed that Elena was in danger and needed to be protected. It was later revealed that Katherine did have a child before she was turned. A severely weakened Katherine greets Elena. Elena visited her and they had a conversation about her past, as Elena constantly gave her blood from a bottle to give her enough strength to talk. She told Elena that she was the first Petrova doppelganger, which means she needed to be sacrificed to break the curse but she escaped Klaus and became a vampire, becoming useless for the sacrifice. Klaus wanted to break the curse so vampires could walk in the sun, and since Elena looked like Katherine, it meant Elena was the second Petrova doppelganger and she was human. Katherine tearing Katherine said would mean Klaus would be coming after her to break the curse. When Klaus came after her, she was given blood by Rose to heal so she wouldn't die, and she later hung herself to be free. When Stefan finally found Elena, Katherine informed them that Klaus would kill all the people Elena loved, just like Klaus did to her. Stefan accused her of tricking Elena, to get herself out of the tomb but Katherine told Stefan that she wanted to be in the tomb due to her protection from Klaus. Katherine later read a Petrova history book with a drawing of her family with tears in her eyes, showing she had not completely lost her humanity. Bonnie burned a picture of Katherine that belonged to her in 1864 so that Stefan could put it on her, rendering her unconscious for 1-3 minutes. Jeremy ventured into the tomb and asked Katherine for the moonstone, and he threw wood into her chest so he could spray the dust on her. While she was unconscious he went in and obtained the stone, but she awakened and attacked him. Stefan was forced to go into the tomb to save Jeremy and was now stuck in there with Katherine. Damon and Katherine Katherine was very pleased with herself; she and Stefan talked in their few hours in the tomb, which proved that Katherine loved him even if she was hard on admitting it. After Elena's deal with Elijah, the warlock Jonas broke the spell of the tomb, allowing vampires to come out. Katherine, though, was compelled by Elijah to stay inside. Katherine begged Damon not to kill Elijah, because then she would be stuck in there forever. However this was later revealed to be a lie, as she knew that killing the Original that compelled her would actually have the opposite effect and she would be free to leave the tomb. Katherine left the tomb and bathed in Damon's shower, asking him if he had a robe when he walked in on her. She further surprised Damon by restating her pledge to help him protect Elena. Katherine subsequently takes up residence with the Salvatore brothers much to the displeasure of Elena. Katherine repeatedly states that she will help them to deal with Klaus, and engages in research with the brothers. She is staked and nearly killed by Luca Martin when he infiltrates the mansion via astral projection in an attempt to release Elijah, but is rescued by Stefan and Damon, who unwittingly burn Luca to death. As his father strikes out in a rage against Elena, Katherine tricks him into believing that she is her doppelganger and killed him to protect everyone. She also repeatedly flirts with Damon, despite admitting to him that she knew that the dagger would kill the vampire who used it, and, having to make a choice between himself and Stefan, she chose Stefan once more. She tried to evade Klaus with the help of Isobel, but was double-crossed and given into Klaus's custody. In The Last Dance, Klaus/Alaric compels her to tell him everything she knows and stuff she wouldn't know, he denied her request to be killed because it was an act of "kindness" to kill her so soon after he searched for her for over 500 years and tells her that her death is going to last at least half that long. After their conversation Klaus/Alaric pulls out a pocket knife and compels her to stab herself repeatedly until he returns from laying eyes on his precious doppelganger. In Klaus, Katherine asks Klaus/Alaric why would he undo the curse in Mystic Falls knowing that a lot people will try to stop him. Katherine dances. Klaus/Alaric reveals to her that he can only undo the curse because it's the doppelganger birthplace. Katherine then replies that she didn’t know that was a requirement. Klaus/Alaric replies to her saying "how could she have known because she betrayed him and fled England before he could give her the details but he did find her birthplace and slaughtered her family, so their cool". As Klaus/Alaric is leaving he tells her she can't leave until he tells her to. Later Damon and Andie Star go to Alaric’s apartment to discover Katherine is alive. Damon tells Katherine he has vervain, which won’t undo Klaus/Alaric’s compulsion but it will stop further compulsions. But before he gives it to her, he wants to know why she double-crossed them with Isobel. She didn't think the others could stand a chance against Klaus and she was looking out for herself. Damon gives her the vervain and tells her she owes him and he will collect. Later that night Katherine was drinking and dancing until Klaus/Alaric returns to the apartment in a bad mood and tells her Alaric's body is no longer useful. Then Katherine asked Klaus/Alaric if he wanted a drink but he declines, Katherine insists that he should have drink. Klaus/Alaric snatches the bottle away from her, throws it against the wall and compels her to sit down and shut up. When Maddox returns with Greta and his casket, she looked at the casket knowing she was about to come face-to-face with the vampire she fears the most. After Maddox and Greta are done taking Klaus out of Alaric's body, the casket is opened and she begins to show fear as the real Klaus walks out. Katherine shocked after Damon states he been bitten by a werewolf In The Last Day, Damon goes to Alaric's apartment to collect his debt for giving her vervain. He asks Katherine where Klaus is keeping the werewolf. Katherine is reluctant to help out but reveals that Klaus has captured Caroline and Tyler. She is shocked to learn that Elena has vampire blood in her system and Damon warns her that she would have to compete for Stefan's love with Elena forever. Katherine reveals that Caroline and Tyler are being held in the tomb. Klaus returns to Alaric's apartment and is immediately suspicious of Katherine. He compels her to tell him what she has been doing but, as she is taking vervain, she is able to lie. He is still suspicious and compels her to take off her bracelet, walk to the window and stand in the sunlight. Katherine has to do it and screams. Eventually Klaus believes she is still compelled and says she needs to do something for him. Later that night Klaus returns to Alaric's apartment and tells Katherine that Elena is with Greta, Damon appears and tells Klaus he has to postpone the ritual, explaining that he rescued the werewolf and vampire and killed Maddox. Klaus then tells Katherine to leave the room so he and Damon can talk. After Klaus knockouts Damon, Katherine wakes him up and tells him that Klaus has gone to begin the ritual. She admits that she had to do something so Klaus wouldn't realize she was on vervain, and reveals that Klaus made her call to lure someone, explaining that he needed another vampire. Damon asks why Klaus didn't use him as the vampire. Katherine admits that Klaus couldn't because Damon was as good as dead. She suddenly notices a mark on Damon's arm and asks what it is and he replies "werewolf bite." In The Sun Also Rises, Damon shows Katherine his werewolf bite but decides to leave. She is hurt that after 145 years he is leaving without saying goodbye and tells him not to depart on bad terms. She insists that she didn't have a choice and had to lure Jenna for Klaus, adding that she chose her life over Jenna's. Damon points out that Katherine will survive this without a scratch. Katherine points out that she doesn't let love get in the way and Damon tells her to enjoy an eternity alone. He leaves to offer himself to Klaus, but Katherine insists that Klaus won't accept him as his blood is impure. In As I Lay Dying, Damon has a flashback and remembers speaking to Katherine in the 1860s. She asks if he will miss her while he is off fighting and he says he will, but points out that she will still have Stefan. Katherine after being bitten by Klaus Katherine asks if it is so wrong for her to want them both. However, Damon hallucinates that Elena has joined them. Elena tells him that Katherine was just toying with him and he could have walked away - he had a choice. Klaus says that's the kind of vampire he could make a deal with. He calls Katherine over and bites her, shocking her as she realizes she now has a werewolf bite. He then feeds her his blood and she heals so that Stefan realizes that Klaus' blood is the cure. Meanwhile, Damon arrives at the screening and hallucinates, thinking he is seeing Katherine. Elena runs through the screening looking for Damon. She finds him and drags him away, but as she does Damon gets confused, mixing the present with the past, thinking he is chasing Katherine through some woods. He remembers begging Katherine to feed him her blood so they could be together forever. Back in the present, he tries to bite Elena as she begs him to stop, explaining that he is hurting her. Klaus calls over Katherine and compels her to take his blood to Damon and come right back - but she is still on vervain. Katherine rushes off as Stefan worries that she will never deliver the cure to Damon. Katherine and Elena Katherine appears and says he should be thanking her as she brought the cure. She says she decided to deliver it because she owed Damon. Elena asks about Stefan, but Katherine asks if she really cares. Eventually, she reveals that Stefan is paying for the cure. She explains that he gave himself over to Klaus and sacrificed everything - including Elena - to save Damon. However, she tells Elena that at least she will have Damon to keep her company. "It's OK to love them both," she adds. "I did." She throws the cure at Elena and walks away. When Stefan confirms that Katherine got to Damon in time he tells Klaus that she escaped, but Klaus reveals that he knew she was on vervain and that she won't get far. Season Three Katherine in Chicago Katherine made her first appearance in the season in The End of the Affair, where she calls Damon and gives him information on Stefan's whereabouts. She is later shown to be in Chicago. In Disturbing Behavior, Katherine is shown to still be in Chicago, there to try and help Stefan, but he declines her invitation and doesn't take her warnings to mind. She later saves him from Gloria's torture by stabbing her in the neck, and asks to be a part of Stefan's plans, where he yet again refuses her. Original Witch's Talisman Necklace Katherine with the Towards the end of the episode, Katherine fooled Bonnie, and manages to steal Esther's Talisman, showing up at Damon's house seconds later with the pendant, proposing they should team up and get away from Mystic Falls and go on a little "road trip". In The Reckoning, after they stopped the car, she reveals to Damon that she has kidnapped Jeremy. She needs the help of Jeremy to contact Anna because he is able to communicate with ghosts and she is the only one who knows anything about Mikael, a vampire who hunts vampires and the only one who can kill Klaus for good, who is now locked in a tomb by a witch since the 1990s. Anna reluctantly gives them information about him, stating that Mikael will kill all of them if awakened. Katherine ignores her warning, and is able to locate his tomb with Jeremy's help. Katherine spent two days unsuccessfully trying to get Mikael to feed, and finally brings him a human, which he refuses and pleads for her to remove the blood-dripping body from him. As he continues to grumpily lie in his coffin, barely awake, she begins to doubt all of his power, and asks whether he can kill Klaus or not, which Mikael confirms, stating that he has denied himself human blood, and proceeds to feed on Katherine when she removed his bindings. Katherine as Elena getting stabbed by Mikael. In Homecoming, Damon enlists Katherine in a plan to kill Klaus. She pretends to be Elena so that Elena wouldn't be killed if Mikael used her to bait Klaus. However, during the party, Klaus, thinking that she was Elena, revealed that in the event that Klaus is killed, the other Hybrids will kill Damon. Katherine then runs back to the Salvatore house and tells Stefan this. She tries to convince him to care enough to stop Damon from killing Klaus, because she is going back to see the plan through. She then returns to the party. Mikael uses the fact that the hybrids are part vampire to compel one of them to grab her, threatening to kill her if Klaus does not leave the Lockwood house. Klaus, believing that he is bluffing, says go ahead. Mikael then stabs Katherine right as Damon jumps Klaus. Much to the shock of Klaus and Mikael, Katherine stands up, and throws wolfsbane (and possibly vervain) grenades at the approaching hybrids. After Stefan stopped Damon, he and she left Mystic Falls. She calls Damon and says that it was a really well thought out plans, and her regret that it didn't work out the way everyone hoped. Stefan asks why Katherine, who wanted Klaus dead for 500 years, would stop a plan to kill him just to save Damon. Katherine then states that humanity is the greatest weakness of the vampires, and no matter how hard one tries to shove it down, it fights back, and sometimes she lets it. She states that, despite everyone thinking that she only cares for herself, she does love Stefan and Damon too, Stefan states that he doesn't want his humanity after everything he has done. Katherine says that he has to, because she needs him to feel, specifically, feel angry at Klaus for everything he has done. She convinces him to steal the coffins that the originals were kept in, greatly angering Klaus, then puts about a million miles between her and Klaus. Her current whereabouts are unknown. Katherine is very beautiful and seductive. She has an oval face with beautiful facial features and structure. She has long brown hair like Elena, although she prefers to wear her hair in curls, while Elena wears her hair straight, though Katherine will occasionally straighten her hair if she is trying to impersonate Elena, like she did for the Masquerade Ball. Katherine has almond-shaped, deep brown eyes with thick dark lashes, similar to Elena's eyes, although Katherine's eyes seem to be darker in color, and having a "smokey" and "shadowy" appearance. Katherine also wears heavier make up while Elena's is more casual. Katherine's overall appearance is described as sexy and seductive, while Elena's overall appearance is sweet, casual and sporty. Katherine's sense of fashion is more chic and mature than Elena's. She seems to favor clothes which are black in color and is often seen wearing tight leather pants and spike heels. Attitude toward humans In 1864, she stopped and fed on the passengers of a coach showing Damon, before he was fully turned into a vampire, how it is done, taking sadistic pleasure over the coachman being so concerned about the safety of a lone lady on the road at night. She wickedly smiled at him, thanked him for his concern and then fed on him, clearly showing that all humans were to her, was food and amusement at that time. However, it is known that even then she could find humans as potential mates. It is a fact that she had a sexual relationship with both Salvatore brothers and eventually turned them both and saying to Stefan that she loved him as she was being carted away to be presumably entombed in the Church. This is likely an exception since she hasn't shown any concern for human life even of the opposite sex presently. In this century, she used Isobel Saltzman as an agent in her plan to destroy the tomb vampires in Mystic Falls most likely knowing full well Isobel's cold disregard for human life and her willing to use them to murderous ends. She was first seen in the 21st century when she kissed Damon while dressed as Elena Gilbert, letting him think she was Elena. She also let John Gilbert think she was Elena as well until she hacked off his fingers and stabbed him with the intent to kill him. She was interrupted by Elena entering the house and finding him. As seen in The House Guest, she is drinking human blood from a hospital blood pack without killing humans. Katherine and Elena. As Elena called 911, Katherine reappeared behind Elena unseen by Elena despite John's gasped warning. She didn't kill Elena or reveal herself to her but toyed with her using her super speed. However her attitudes toward humans haven't changed. As a bait to create a crisis between the Salvatore brothers and herself after Stefan rejected her, she deliberately smothered Caroline Forbes in her hospital room, a human that did her absolutely no harm, knowing that she had Damon's blood in her system. However, while she has no regard for human life she doesn't care for her fellow vampires either. She admitted to Stefan Salvatore that she betrayed the Mystic Fall vampires in 1864 by making a deal with George Lockwood, the son of the mayor of the time and a werewolf, ostensibly the vampire's mortal enemies. In exchange for covering up his own attacks on humans, Katherine allows him to blow the whistle on the town vampires so he can increase his standing in the Mystic Falls founding families and in his personal family. She did this so she could be rid of her personal enemies among the vampires and fake her own death. It was him who arranged to have Katherine escape the tomb in exchange for the Moonstone, which at the time Katherine had in her possession. This shows a ruthlessness that demonstrates she is out solely for herself, despite the fact that she cares about Stefan. Katherine's ruthlessness and indifference to others is likely due to the fact that her family disowned her for having an illegitimate child (at the age of 15), and later on were murdered by Klaus. Her daughter is the only person Katherine has been shown to truly love at a significant degree, even though she still had at least some feelings for her family, and she was carried away only seconds after Katherine gave birth to her. Even when she first met Klaus and Elijah, she still believed in love, and even had a short moment when she bonded with Elijah, due to Klaus being elsewhere and told him "if we cease to believe in love, why would we want to live?" Later on, her entire family was brutally slaughtered by Klaus as revenge for her having eluded him. Both events left her completely devastated, contributing to her reasons for turning off her emotions. Also the fact that Klaus wanted to use her as a sacrifice for breaking The Sun and the Moon curse didn't help matters, making her all the more bitter and distrustful. She is an example of a tragic villain, which is a character who, although acting for primarily "evil" or selfish goals, is either not in full control of their actions or emotions and the reader or viewer can sympathize for due to them not being evil by choice; but rather by them being a victim of circumstance. Alexia "Lexi" Branson was a vampire and Stefan Salvatore's best friend. She had known Stefan and his brother Damon Salvatore for over a century. She was killed by Damon to make others believe that she was the Mystic Falls killing vampire and was finally dead. She was 350 years old, making her birth date around 1659 and her turning year somewhere in the late 1680s. In 162 Candles, it is mentioned that she visited Stefan on all of his birthdays, including once in 1987 during a Bon Jovi concert. Lexi met Elena Gilbert, and gave her some relationship advice, saying, "When it's real you can't walk away." Elena thought of Lexi as a friend, after helping Stefan. Early History Lexi back in the days Lexi was born around 1659 and became a vampire in her mid twenties under unknown circumstances. In 1864, she met a young vampire named Stefan Salvatore, who tried to feed on her, unable to distinguish his kind from human. Discovering that Stefan was a Ripper, meaning he only fed and hunt, losing his humanity, Lexi took it upon herself to help Stefan get back as much as possible of his humanity, generally by not turning his feelings off, succeeding eventually she made Stefan feel pain, love and anger whenever, just like humanity. Lexi found Stefan, now back to his Ripper ways in April 1922 before getting him off human blood for good around 1935. They would spend every birthday of his together, once attending a Bon Jovi concert, where they were, unbeknownst to them, watched by Stefan's ex, Katherine Pierce. Lexi was not fond of Stefan's ex-lover Katherine. She is known to her as the other little "bitch". Season One Lexi comes to Mystic Falls for Stefan's 162nd birthday, and is shocked to meet Elena, who looks exactly like Katherine (whom Lexi, even though having never met, hated for what she did to Stefan). She first confuses the two, but after Stefan explains the situation, she becomes very supportive of the relationship. Lexi and Stefan have fun. Damon convinces both Lexi and Stefan to come to the Mystic Grill where Caroline's party is. They play pool there, dance and enjoy the night. Lexi tells Elena about her on experience with her human boyfriend. She later starts talking to Damon and wanted to know what he was planning but he wouldn't tell her. Earlier, Damon had attacked a girl and he compelled her to say that Lexi attacked her boyfriend. Sheriff Forbes had blocked the exit to make sure no one could leave. The girl points to Damon who is standing next to Lexi, Forbes assumes that the girl was picking out Lexi and injects her with vervain before several c Lexi staked by Damon ops carry her outside. Lexi throws the cops to the side and goes after the sheriff, but Damon stakes her before she can get to Sheriff Forbes . She asked why he'd killed her and he said "part of the plan" and she died. In Bloodlines, Damon comes to visit Bree at her bar. Bree wanted revenge for her death because it turns out that Lexi was her friend. Her boyfriend Lee, another vampire (also who she turned), was about to kill Damon and light him on fire, but Elena stops him at the last minute. He told her that it wasn't for her - it was for Lexi. Season Two Lexi is mentioned in three episodes in the second season: Masquerade, Rose, and Katerina, making it three episodes in a row. In Masquerade, she is mentioned by Katherine that says she saw Lexi and Stefan at a Bon Jovi concert. In Rose, Rose says that she was a friend of Lexi's. In Katerina, Stefan tells Caroline that Caroline reminded him of Lexi. In The Dinner Party, Lexi makes an appearance in a flashback. Stefan is shown as a ripper in his early vampire days. Lexi helps him get back on track and teaches him the importance of love. She also has a short conversation with Stefan's brother Damon. Season Three Lexi with Stefan in ghost world She is mentioned in The End of the Affair, in Stefan's diary, revealing that she was the one who got Stefan to kick his addiction to human blood around 1935. She officially appears in Ghost World where, after one of Bonnie's spells go wrong, she can be seen and act freely. She imprisons Stefan and shows Elena how to take care of him. When Bonnie destroys the necklace, Lexi had to leave, but Elena promised her that she would help Stefan. Lexi seconds before she finds peace and vanishes She wants more time to help Stefan but Elena assures her that its okay and that she can find peace now. Lexi departs, now finally having found peace after holding on and worrying about Stefan. She also assures Elena that the Stefan whom Elena knew, was still inside and that she just needed to draw him out and get through to him. Lexi trying to fix Stefan It can be theorized that perhaps Stefan and Lexi shared an even closer bond than the one he and Elena shared. Lexi was his first vampire friend and she continually saved his life and looked out for him. Her devotion to him was strong enough that she could sense he had "gone off the rails" again and came back as a ghost to protect and save him. Stefan resisted her attempts to fix him to the best of his ability but she was able to get inside his mind and somehow make him think he had gone without blood for a certain period of time that had soon turned into years. She also used physical torture to try to bring him back and was able to gain some kind of success before she had to leave. Relationships Lee Lee, Lexi's former lover Lee was Lexi's human lover, whom Lexi eventually turned into a vampire so they could be together forever. Lexi had mentioned him when she first met Elena, but didn't say his name. In Bloodlines, Lee tried to murder Damon in order to avenge Lexi's death, but Elena stopped him, telling him not to go down to Damon's level, because Lexi wouldn't want him to be like that. Lee was a close friend of Bree, who set him up to kill Damon. Attitudes toward humans Lexi as a vampire a few moments before being staked. She had a very generous nature to mortals. As mentioned she did drink human blood, but strictly from hospital blood banks, unlike Stefan when he recently ingested human blood she was able to easily control her innate bloodlust without murdering humans. She didn't hunt them or regard them as her playthings, but her equals. Indeed, she was in love with a human male named Lee as much as Elena Gilbert is in love with Stefan. Lexi dissuaded Elena's worries about being romantically involved with a vampire including her slowly growing old with him being forever young. She turned Lee into a vampire with his consent and wish. The only time in her brief time in the series she looked like she was about to attack a human was in self defense when Sheriff Forbes and two other deputies captured her with vervain and were taking her away to a quiet place to kill her. As outlined below Damon betrayed and killed her to maintain his cover and to put the Sheriff's fears to rest. Lexi's friend: Bree. Lexi seemed to have the healthiest attitude of all the vampires so far. Like Damon and Isobel she was totally comfortable with the fact that she was a vampire and craved and drank human blood with little thought about it, but unlike them did not harm humans and regard them as less than herself, nor did she feel any guilt about her existence like Stefan. It is a compromise Stefan hasn't worked out with his strict 'no human blood under any circumstances' attitude and emotional self flagellation about the feelings and dangerous desires within him. Stefan's Diaries When Stefan first met Lexi, he said she gave off power. She owned a butcher shop and was living off animal blood. Lexi didn't agree with Stefan dating Callie. She had three companions, Percy, Buxton, and Hugo, all vampires. When teaching Stefan how to behave in public and not draw attention to himself while compelling in a Union bar, she compelled the band to stop playing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and to play "God Save the South" instead. She had a brother who was killed in a fire meant for her. Powers and Abilities Some of these powers are more potent when the vampire gets older and feeds on human blood. Anna) was a vampire and the daughter of Pearl. She came back to Mystic Falls as early as the Night of the Comet Festival and watched Damon miss his every opportunity to open the tomb where her mother was. She turned Ben and Logan Fell to help to achieve her goal of finding out how to open the Tomb. Anna later fell in love with Jeremy Gilbert, Elena Gilbert's younger brother but met the same fate as her mother and was staked by John Gilbert. She later returned as a ghost at the end of Season 2 in the episode, As I Lay Dying. Early Life Annabelle in 1864.Anna lived in Mystic Falls with her mother Pearl a while before the founding of the town. Pearl posed as a high ranks respectable business woman and she owned an apothecary, and it is stated that Anna helped her mother out. After the Founder's Council and townspeople started hunting down vampires, Anna and Pearl intended to leave town with Katherine. When Pearl was captured by the council and was imprisoned in Fell's Church, Emily Bennett told Anna that she will see her mother again. Since the moment Anna found out that her mother was entombed under the church by Emily, she spent almost 145 years to find a way to free her out of the tomb, so that they could live together in Mystic Falls. Before her mother was captured in Children of the Damned, she intended to enter the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. She was in fact, the 3rd oldest vampire on the show other than the Originals, the oldest being her mother Pearl, who was over 570 years old, followed by Rose, who was over 560 years old, then Anna, who was 550 years old. Season One Jeremy and Anna meet Anna was a seemingly geeky girl who befriended Jeremy Gilbert at a local library. She helped him with his paper for history class on the local history of the town Mystic Falls. Anna turned out to be a vampire who was in Mystic Falls in 1864 with her mother Pearl. She wanted to open the tomb where the 26 vampires were trapped. Her mother Pearl was one of the 26 vampires that was in the tomb. She took drastic measures to free her mother. Anna and Jeremy She turned Ben and Logan into vampires to further that purpose, befriended Jeremy Gilbert in order to obtain his ancestor's journal, and kidnapped Elena as leverage so that Bonnie would open the tomb, that contained Anna's mother inside. However, while spending time together, she developed genuine feelings for him. She succeeded in getting her mother out of the tomb after waiting for over one hundred and forty-five years. After realizing she was more than human, Jeremy soon found out what she was. After seeing her vampire veins appear, he began to suspect that she was not human and later tested his theories by "accidentally" cutting his hand and forcing her to drink his blood. Jeremy forcing Anna to reveal herself. Later that night, she confronted him in his room, claiming that she could have killed him and should have, but when asked why she didn't, replied, "I don't know. Maybe I'm just a sucker for guys like you...lost." He then repeatedly requested to be turned, but would not state his reason, and was refused. Anna initially attempted to hide her involvement with him from her mother, as he was a Gilbert, but was found out when Pearl noticed their communication at the Mystic Grill. They ended up in a short, heated argument which ended when Pearl, still hurt from Johnathan Gilbert's betrayal, slapped her daughter. Angry, Anna agreed to change Jeremy, only to discover that his motive for wanting it was to be with his first love, Vicki Donovan, who he suspected might have been a vampire, and was now revealed to be dead. Anna and Jeremy begin a romantic relationship. After a short period of distance, they made up, both admitting to having used each other to begin with, but had fallen in love along the way. She enrolled in high school in to spend more time with him, and they began a romantic relationship. Tragically, Pearl was killed by Jeremy's uncle John, devastating Anna, but she did not seek revenge. She called Jeremy her weakness and it was believed she stayed in Mystic Falls for him. After her mother's death, she showed up in Jeremy's room in tears, telling him about what happened to her mother. He sympathized with her, as he'd lost his own parents, and consoled her. Anna went to Jeremy on Founder's Day with a vial of her blood, telling him that if he drank it and died, he would become a vampire. He was unsure, but she left the vial for him just in case he changed his mind. She was with him when John Gilbert set off the device. Anna was immediately incapacitated because she was within a 5 block radius of the device. A policeman found her with Jeremy and she was injected with vervain and dragged to the Gilbert building to be burnt alive, a replication of the original plan to eradicate the vampires in 1864. Anna, hears The Device When John Gilbert saw Anna lying in the building with other vampires, he murdered her with his own stake—possibly out of mercy for her to receive a less painful death or out of anger that she was dating his nephew. Damon saw what happened to her and after he told Jeremy she died, he admitted he was actually sorry for her and wanted to help, but couldn't. Anna's body was burned in the fire with the other vampires who were caught, save for Damon who had been saved. Jeremy asked Damon whether it would be better to be a vampire, and Damon told him it would be easier to turn the emotions off. Later, Jeremy drank Anna's blood and took several sleeping pills. Season Two Anna is back. As it turned out, Anna's blood was able to heal Jeremy, rather than transform him, thus he is still human. He did not take enough pills to kill himself, and the damage made by the pills he took was healed by Anna's blood. This was thought to be the last appearance of Anna, but after Jeremy was accidentally shot to death by Sheriff Forbes and brought back to life by Bonnie's magic (this made him a medium), Anna appeared to Jeremy as a ghost in the Season 2 finale, along with Vicki. Season Three Anna once again appears to Jeremy. When Jeremy hung up from speaking with Bonnie, the lights started flickering. Anna appeared and was about to touch Jeremy on the back when Matt entered and she disappeared. Later she appeared when Jeremy turned on the headlights when he was in his car to go home after leaving Matt to his home. He was terrified by her vision, but when Matt asked him what is wrong, he said he is high. Later he turned off the headlights and Anna disappeared. In The Hybrid, Anna warned Jeremy about Vicki Anna cries because she doesn't want to be alone and told him not to trust her. It was later revealed that she had been trapped on The Other Side. Jeremy could hear and see her, but could not feel her physically. She appeared beside Jeremy and called him, but was surprised and happy to realize he could hear her. She said that she had been trying to contact him for days. Later that night, she appeared beside Bonnie and warned him about the darkness she had been feeling for a while. Afterwards, Jeremy decided to shut her out which made her very upset. She later told Katherine and Damon through Jeremy about Mikael. "I can feel you" In Smells Like Teen Spirit, she was talking to Jeremy about Matt seeing and talking to Vicki, and she repeats her warning about her, stating that if she has made a deal with a witch, no one can know what price she is going to pay. She then witnesses the fight between Jeremy and Bonnie, and becomes angry at Jeremy because he shouldn't be thinking of her when he's around of or thinking of Bonnie. Jeremy says that he knows but that he doesn't think that he can stop thinking about her. Anna finally meets her mother, Pearl. Anna says that she can't stop thinking about him either, and they then discover that they can touch each other to their delight. In Ghost World, Bonnie casts a spell that will make ghosts visible to human eye, and Elena walks in on Jeremy and Anna while they were kissing in the restroom. Elena berates both of them. She yells at Anna which causes her to disappear. At The Illumination Night, Anna is accused of stealing the necklace, but Jeremy defends her. Later, Anna gives the necklace back and tells Jeremy that Elena is right and she is holding him back. At the end of the episode Anna is finally reunited with her mother Pearl once again, and the two end up together "on the other side" forever. When her focus was getting her mother Pearl out of the tomb, she displayed a clear willingness to use humans to further that end, including turning Ben McKittrick and Logan Fell into vampires for that specific goal. Ben in particular to help her kidnap the witch Bonnie Bennett to lift the spell, and her best friend Elena Gilbert to motivate her to do so. And she turned Logan to get his family's journal (Logan Fell's ancestors established Fell's Church).[1] Anna She didn't care that after getting her mother out, the rest of the entombed vampires would want to take revenge from the descendants of Mystic Falls residents that put them there 146 years ago. She even at first used the teenager Jeremy Gilbert. She "coincidentally" met him in the library to use him to find the Gilbert Journals which was a stepping stone to discover how to remove the spell over the tomb. However, she also used her fellow vampire Damon and his belief that his love, Katherine Pierce was also entrapped in the tomb, despite knowing very well that she wasn't, as she last saw her in 1983, Chicago. She formed an alliance with him and shared the Gilbert journal to find where Emily's Grimore is that contains a reverse spell of the tomb spell. From that it seems she was willing to use anyone, human and vampire, to free her mother. Her willingness to turn humans into vampires to bring them to her cause not withstanding, once her mother was out her views seemed to moderate seeming not to bare ill will to humans in general. As noted in the above section, she was granted the power to walk in daylight by the witch Emily as a vote of confidence that she wasn't a danger to humans. After she and her mother Pearl commandeered Samantha Gibbons's farmhouse for them and some of the other tomb vampires to live in (some other tomb vampires went to other places) she saw Frederick feeding on the glamored Mrs. Gibbons. Anna was angry and she told Mrs. Gibbons to get some rest revealing she had some compassion caring that Mrs. Gibbons wasn't mistreated (albeit she was still robbed of her free will and Anna at least condoned it if she didn't do it herself).[2] She would later return the affections of the human teenager Jeremy Gilbert who, as she was using him to get her hands on the Gilbert Journals, was genuinely growing fond of him. She even was ready to grant his wish to be turned even after she warned him of the consequences. When she later learned that he was at first using her and lying to her that he wanted to become a vampire for her but was really to be with his first love Vicki Donovan. When he learned of her death he no longer wanted to be a vampire. It hurt her but, she forgave him when Jeremy professed that he now truly wanted her for her sake. She admitted that at first she used him to get the Gilbert Journals and his blood to feed Pearl but fell for him.[3] She felt enough for him to eventually have sexual relations with him and gave him a vile of her blood to drink if he changed his mind. She even enrolled in high school officially to be with him and protested when Pearl (who was originally against the idea of them being together in part because he was a Gilbert but later gave her lukewarm blessing) decided to leave Mystic Falls after all. Anna gives Jeremy a vial of her blood, so he can become a vampire. It seems that she only fed on the stock of human blood banks as did her mother Pearl, never hunting and killing humans for blood. She was not seen to do so in the 19th century as well. The one time she did feed on human blood directly from a human was when Jeremy deliberately cut his palm and temped her to compulsively reveal herself to him that she was a vampire. She sucked on his hand but maintained control of herself. However, she chastised Jeremy for taking such a foolish risk saying that she could've killed him if she lost control of herself.[4] Her final test was when she discovered her mother Pearl and Harper dead due to being staked. Instead of striking out against humans, she tearfully went to Jeremy stating she had nowhere else to go. She then discovered the plot of the remaining vengeful Tomb vampires to wipe out the humans of Mystic Falls she pretended to join them actually siding with the towns people by revealing what she learned. Whether she did it to save Jeremy's life or she actually cared for humans in general and would had done it any way if Jeremy wasn't in danger is unknown but she did choose a human over her own kind. In any case, when the town launched its counter attack by deploying the device she was caught up in its sonic influence that while completely harmless to humans, produced incredible pain in vampires that caused them to scream and curl up in a fetal ball. Sheriff deputies heard her screaming and discovered her; taking her over Jeremy's protest. She was staked to death by John Gilbert, begging for her life dying with a look of pain and despair, perhaps knowing that she would never be with Jeremy, a human that was her love, her weakness.[5] Rebekah Rebekah Biographical information Born Status 10th century Undead Occupation Species High School Senior Student at Mystic Falls High School Original Family information Family members Mikael † (Father) Esther † (Mother) Unnamed Brother † Elijah Mikaelson (Brother) Finn Mikaelson † (Brother) Niklaus Mikaelson (Half-Brother) Kol Mikaelson (Brother) Henrik Mikaelson † (Brother) Supernatural information Significant kills Cause of death Killed by Elena Gilbert (as a human) Alaric Saltzman (through Elena's death) Stabbed through the heart (as a human) Mikael (as a human) Appearance Played by Claire Holt Rebekah is a free-spirited Original vampire. Rebekah was the lover of Stefan Salvatore back in the 1920's, daughter of Mikael and Esther, and also the only sister of an unnamed deceased brother, Elijah, Finn, Kol, and Henrik, and the only half-sister to Niklaus. After the death of Henrik, she became the youngest in the family. Rebekah has the most impeccable instincts and can tell when people are lying to her or others. This is something Klaus calls "borderline supernatural". Rebekah is a member of the Mikaelson Family. History Rebekah is the only daughter of Mikael and Esther, who were wealthy land owners from Eastern Europe. She is the sixth of seven siblings, which includes Elijah, Finn, Niklaus, Kol, and Henrik and an unknown older brother. Not much is known about Rebekah's early life, other than that she was born in the New World, where they lived in peace among the Werewolves for twenty years. However, during a full moon, when the wolves were transforming, Klaus and Henrik snuck out to watch the villagers transform from men to beast. As the sun began to rise, Rebekah saw Klaus carrying Henrik's lifeless body back into the village. He stated that one of the wolves had mauled Henrik to death. Not wanting to lose another child, their mother Esther casts a spell (Vampiric Transformation Ritual), calling upon the Sun for life and the White Oak Tree for immortality. However, the spell leads to some untimely acts. Unbeknownst to Rebekah and her siblings, they drank wine laced with the blood of Tatia for dinner, and afterwards, Mikael drove his sword into their hearts. After their awakening, Mikael forced his children to feed on a local villager, completing their transition into vampires. Rebekah, Elijah and Klaus promise to stick together Later, they began to realize their new gift had its weaknesses. The flowers that grew at the base of the White Oak Tree, vervain, burned them and prevented compulsion. The sun burned their skin, making it impossible to walk in the day light. They were unable to enter the homes of their neighbors without an invitation. Also their thirst was insatiable. Realizing that a wood carved from the White Oak Tree would be fatal to them, they burned the tree to the ground. After their mother's death, Rebekah, Klaus and Elijah swore to each other that they would never turn on each other and stick together as one, always and forever. 1920s Rebekah in 1920s Moving from town to town and wreaking havoc, Rebekah and Klaus found themselves in Chicago during the roaring 20s. After her introduction to Stefan Salvatore, Rebekah immediately fell in love with him. Not long after, Mikael (their father) arrives in the city searching for Klaus, intending to kill him. Mikael and the police fire wooden bullets into the building. Rebekah, Stefan, and Klaus duck to avoid the bullets, and in the commotion, Rebekah lost her mother's necklace. Klaus meets up with Stefan and compells him to forget him and Rebekah. Later, Rebekah and Klaus are shown to be packing and moving elsewhere. Klaus tells Rebekah to hurry up, but she says that she is not going anywhere without Stefan. Klaus tells her to let Stefan go, but Rebekah refuses, intent on staying with him. Klaus forces her to choose between him and Stefan, and as she opted for the latter, he neutralizes her with the White Oak Ash Dagger. This is the only weapon that can be used to kill an Original Vampire like Klaus and herself. Rebekah remained neutralized for 90 years and stored in a coffin which was carried around with Klaus, wherever Klaus went the coffins went too along with her other brothers, Finn and Kol. Season Three Rebekah before being resurrected After Gloria revealed to Klaus that Rebekah had what she needed to contact The Original Witch, Klaus reluctantly resurrected his sister. While she is resurrecting, Klaus compels a guard to let her feed from the guard and also wants the guard to tell her where to meet Stefan and Klaus. After rising from the dead, Rebekah is delighted to see Stefan again, but is furious after she is unable to find her amulet. She was appalled by modern music and fashion. Gloria uses Rebekah to find the amulet and after doing so, threatens to kill the girl with her necklace, along with her friends. Rebekah in 1920 As Stefan is about to open Elijah's coffin Rebekah walks in. He tells her he remembers they were running from someone, and inquires about it. Rebekah tells Stefan that she can't talk about it, and instead pulls Stefan into a long kiss. Rebekah then asks after the long kiss with Stefan if he'll love another girl the same way he loved Elena. Stefan says he hopes to and tries to kiss Rebekah again, but she stops him, saying his kiss gave him away. Klaus appears, and Rebekah reports that Stefan is not on their side, as he's asking about Mikael, the man who wants to kill them and the man they were running away from in Chicago.Once they're back in Mystic Falls, Rebekah informs Stefan that Klaus knows about the Doppelgänger and how she is alive, when she is meant to be dead, and that he won't be merciful. Stefan attacks her, but being an original vampire, Rebekah overpowers him and "out of jealousy" stabs him. Rebekah stabs Stefan She later sneaks up on Caroline and Tyler, and drags him over to Klaus after previously knocking him out. After he feeds the werewolf his blood and kills him, Rebekah drags Tyler back to Caroline and stays to watch over them. Do you honestly think I would do anything other than the opposite of what she says?" He further explains, "The doppelgänger needed to die in order for me to become a hybrid. But if she was dead...". Matt swerves the car to avoid hitting Rebekah and drives over the bridge, crashing into the water below. Relationships Elijah and Rebekah Stefan and Rebekah Klaus and Rebekah Rebekah, Elijah and Klaus Damon and Rebekah Caroline and Rebekah Rebekah and Kol Elena and Rebekah Matt and Rebekah Esther and Rebekah Physical Appearance Rebekah is very attractive and has icy/natural blond hair, light, blue eyes and pale skin. She's over 1000-years-old, but looks like she is in her late teens. She appears to be the youngest of the Originals. When Rebekah is in her vampiric form, her eyes will turn red with small veins protruding around the area of her eyes and her teeth will lengthen into fangs possibly longer than that of regular vampires. Her eyes also seem a lot redder than usual vampires. Personality Initially, Rebekah's personality in the series is erratic, spiteful and vindictive. In the flashbacks that show Rebekah before being turned into a vampire, she is a caring and curious teenage girl. After being turned, the aspects of her personality were heightened. Rebekah mentions this, saying, “We’re vampires. Our emotions are heightened. I’m stubborn, Elijah moral, and Nik….Nik has no tolerance for those who disappoint him.” After her mother’s death, Rebekah grieves deeply, sometimes crying herself to sleep calling out her mother’s name, as said by Esther. After spending centuries with Niklaus, with whom she shares a close bond with, she has become dependent on him, although she is not fond of him making decisions for her. Because of the heartbreak she has endured, Rebekah has built up an emotional wall, and she comes across as being cruel, aggressive and mean. Despite her aggressive nature, she has shown to be emotionally fragile. In reference to Rebekah, Elena says, “I learned that she is just a girl, and that she lost her mom too young. And she loves blindly and recklessly, even if it consumes her.” She very much wants to be like a normal teenager, and longs to have the normal teenage life she missed out on. Rebekah is also shown to be very punctual, as she showed up on time to clean up the dance that she organized, but didn't attend due to the incident with Esther and reprimanded Caroline for showing up two minutes late.
