Homeopathy has the potential to treat a wide range of disorders in women and there is a growing body of research and clinical evidence that supports its effectiveness. 2:15pm-3:15pm Metabolic Syndrome and Menopause Dr. Morstein will discuss how metabolic syndrome is a growing problem in our aging women. This lecture will discuss the development and physiology, relationship to hormones and long term effects on women. Both conventional and evidenced based natural therapies will be discussed. 3:30pm-4:30pm Bio-identical Hormones and Conventional HRT for Menopause Dr. Marchese will provide a practical and clinical review of the benefits and risks of HRT as it relates to breast cancer, heart disease, urinary incontinence, osteoporosis and symptom relief. Knowledge of the risks and benefits of HRT in menopause management is a key concept to making clinical decisions. 4:30pm-5:00pm Physician Panel Discussion Open forum for questions from the audience and/or short case presentations from speakers highlighting key clinical issues in women’s health. Dr. Marchese is the author of “8 Weeks to Women’s Wellness.” She graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2002 and maintains private practice in Phoenix AZ. Dr. Marchese teaches Gynecology at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and writes for the Townsend letter. Dr. Morstein received a BS in Foods and Nutrition from ASU in 1984. Dr. Morstein graduated from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1988 and completed a year residency in Family Practice. Dr. Morstein is the Chair of the Nutrition Department and an associate professor at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Nevels graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2003 after receiving her Bachelors of Science in Psychology at the University of Arizona. She completed a one-year residency specializing in women's medicine, is a past faculty member at SCNM and past Interim Chair of the Women's Health Department. Dr. Ham graduated from Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center in 2007. She completed a oneyear residency at SCNM and a second-year homeopathy specialty residency with Dr. Stephen Messer.
