Title: School Improvement Coordinator
Reports to:
Director of Instructional Support Services
Position Summary: The School Improvement Coordinator will assist district administrators from
component school districts to provide School Improvement program and technical support with a
concentration in curriculum coordination, assessment development, evaluation, and improvement
of instructional practices.
Qualifications:
 NYS teacher certification Elem. or in any subject 7-12.
 Minimum of three years of verifiable elementary, middle, or high school teaching experience
 Demonstrate knowledge of the Common Core Learning Standards, curriculum, and
cognitive development
 Demonstrate knowledge of effective instructional strategies
 Demonstrate success as a teacher, teacher leader or instructional coach with knowledge and
mastery of a variety of School Improvement strategies
 Ability to support learning and curriculum alignment to the Common Core Learning
Standards
 Ability to identify and evaluate instructional programs and make recommendations for
alignment with standards, curriculum, and grade expectations
 Knowledge and understanding of adult learners and demonstrate ability to motivate and
teach adults in a variety of instructional settings, including coaching
 Demonstrate capacity to be self-directed, organized, and collaborative
Performance Responsibilities:
 Serve as educational leader and provide leadership, direction, and assistance in all areas
related to School Improvement
 Support district administrators with school needs and services, instructional programs and
strategies, and implementing an effective curriculum
 Work with district administrators to plan how they can implement NYSED initiatives
 Coordinate with district administrators data collection and analysis of assessment results
 Engage in curriculum and assessment audits as appropriate and requested
 Coordinate with district administrators professional development activities directly related
to School Improvement
 Maintain a current knowledge base in several areas: curriculum and instruction, best
practices in education, strategies for School Improvement and closing achievement gaps,
effective management and communication strategies, all applicable Federal and State
regulations and all Board policies and procedures
 Does other related work as assigned
Evaluation: The Director of Instructional Support Services will evaluate the School Improvement
Coordinator
