By awarding this scholarship, the COE Alumni is hoping to further our mission and recruit new ambassadors. Some alumni association activities we would encourage participation by our scholarship winners include: • engaging with alumni by attending VIP events • participating in Maryland Day in the spring • serving as a student spokesperson for external audiences These awards, one undergraduate and one graduate, will be based on the following criteria: - Academic performance - Financial need Leadership and contributions to the field of Education Commitment to promoting a diverse, multicultural community - Ability to advance the mission of the College of Education Alumni Association Please respond to the following questions and limit your response to a maximum of two pages total: 1. 2. 3. 4. Explain any circumstances that make financial support a particular concern. The faculty recommendation form is to be completed by a faculty member who can comment on your abilities as a student and on your potential leadership in education. These forms are to be returned directly by the faculty member to the College of Education Scholarship Selection Committee. The faculty recommendation is an important part of the scholarship application and weighs heavily in the scholarship committee’s decision. You will be informed of scholarship decisions in June, 2012. Recipients must be enrolled each semester for a full award, otherwise a partial award will be made. The total Scholarship award will be $2,000 per academic year for one undergraduate and one graduate student. Students who do not receive the Alumni Chapter Scholarship will be considered for other College of Education scholarships.
