Get out and explore one of the many trails at Hobbs State Park. Saturday, January 16, 2016 – Wonders of Winter Wildlife – Prepare to be wowed at the signs of life we see in the winter. This family fun day will include nature detective walks and tips on bringing wildlife to your yard! February Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14 – Sweethearts Dinner Cruises – Share the wonders of nature with your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day weekend, by taking an Eagle Watch Cruise on beautiful Beaver Lake and enjoying a delicious lunch at Ventris Trails End Resort. Cost: $60+ tax per couple or $40+ tax per individual: Reservations and payment must be made in advance. March Saturday, March – Leopold Day Join in this fun-filled day of family activities as Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area and the Friends of Hobbs celebrate the life and extraordinary career of Aldo Leopold, and how he shaped conservation and the modern environmental movement. Wednesday, March 23rd – Friday, March 25th – Spring Break Day Camp - Sign up for Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area’s Nature Exploration Day Camp: Spring Break 2016! Join Park Interpreter Rebekah for three days of exploring, creating arts and crafts, playing games, learning outdoor skills, and building nature knowledge. The cost is $50 per child for the three days, which includes activities, crafts, snacks, and a T-shirt. April th Saturday, April 16 – Earth Day, Every Day - Celebrate our Earth at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area! Enjoy activities, programs, and crafts all based around our Earth. 5th May Saturday, May 7th – Wild Edibles Workshop - Join Tamara Walkingstick, Associate Professor of Extension Forestry, for this delightful workshop where you will not only learn to identify a few edible species of Arkansas native & non-native vegetation: you’ll also have the opportunity to sample a few tasty dishes including acorn scones. The presentation covers concepts of conservation, history, culture, and plant identification—while you’re learning to walk on the wild side. Reservations Required. Cost $10 Friday, May 27th – Monday, May 30th – Memorial Day Weekend – Fun for the whole family! Participate in programs, kayaking, boat cruises, and a Dutch oven workshop!* There will be fun for all ages! Don’t miss the chance to celebrate in your state park! June Wednesday, June 8th – Friday, June 10th – Hobbs State Park Day Camp for 9 – 12 year old Wednesday, June 15th – Friday, June 17th – Hobbs State Park Day Camp for 6- 8 year olds July Lake Appreciation Month – Make a splash at Hobbs State Park Conservation Area this summer as we celebrate one of our most visible and refreshing resources – Beaver Lake! Saturday, July 9th – Beaver Lake Clean-up– As part of Lake Appreciation Month, be a good steward of 1 in 8 Arkansans drinking water by helping pick-up around the lake. What a cool way to spend a day at Beaver Lake! Wednesday, July 13th – Friday, July 15th – Hobbs State Park Day Camp for 6 - 8 year old Wednesday, July 20th – Friday, July 22nd – Hobbs State Park Day Camp for 9 -12 year old August Monday, August 29th – Monday, September 5th – Legacy Week September October Sunday, October Fall Festival – Step back in time at the Historic Van Winkle Site. Witness a saw miller, flint knapper, Civil War surgeon, blacksmither, and more! Saturday, October 22nd Living Forest - Join Mother Nature as she introduces her forest friends here at Hobbs State Park – Conservation Area. Listen to each of the animal’s stories and learn what you can do to make their lives and ours easier. A fun, non-scary, holiday treat for the whole family! 2nd November Friday, November 25th – Green Friday - Consider celebrating the season in a relaxing way with your friends and family that reconnects you to what is really important.. In an effort to help you reconnect with the things important in your life, we will be hosting a day of hikes, nature crafts, and family fun programming.
