Advanced Practice Provider Core Privileges
Optometrist:
 Assessment, diagnosis, medical treatment of
patients with ophthalmic injuries, illnesses &
disorders and related conditions. These privileges
include the provision of consultation, as well as the
ordering of diagnostic studies and specified
procedures.
 Administer drugs for diagnostic & therapeutic
purposes
 Analyze test results and develop a treatment plan
 Diagnose vision problems and eye diseases
 Perform primary care eye examinations, including
refraction




Perform tests that lead to a diagnose of certain
systemic diseases such as diabetes & high blood
pressure, referring patients to other health
practitioners as needed
Provide emergency eye care services
Provide pre- and postoperative care to cataract
patients as well as those who have had laser vision
correction or other eye surgery
Test patients visual acuity, depth & color perception,
& ability to focus & coordinate their eyes
Podiatrist:
 Core privileges in podiatry include heel pain, forefoot (bunion, hammertoes, morton’s neuroma, hallux rigidus), diabetic
foot care (routine care, debridements, digital and ray amputations), routine foot care, dermatologic condition such as
athletes foot, fungal nails, ingrown nails, warts, calluses, corns, and fracture care of metatarsals and phalanges.
Psychologist:
 General Core Privileges for Psychologists include being able to diagnose, provide treatment, and consult to patients and
their families who suffer from mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders. Specifically, general core privileges include
psychological assessment including an interpretation of psychometric testing, development of diagnosis, provision of
appropriate psychological intervention, counseling and/or referral and crisis intervention.
