Here is the Curriculum Guide for students wishing to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. Please note that some
degree programs allow for more flexibility in course selection than others. For example, the degree in Criminal
Justice is prescribed semester by semester, while an AA in Liberal Arts allows students more choices in course
selection.
Slide 6:
To find the Curriculum Guide for the degree program that you will be entering, please follow this link or

indicates that they must complete remediation in ENGL 091 will be limited to the maximum credit load of
twelve/thirteen credit hours.
Slide 11
The credit load must include the required developmental course(s). The remainder of the credit load must be
selected from the approved Limited Course Load List. Courses recommended by the Advising Center have been
highlighted.
Slide 12
Upon completion of the required developmental coursework, students will be able to register for up to 15-18
credits in subsequent semesters. You will learn more about the Ocean County College Placement Test during
the remainder of this presentation.

Slide 20
If you do need one or more developmental courses, these are the facts you need to know about the
developmental coursework.
Slide 21
Developmental courses take priority over other coursework; therefore you must complete them in your first
semesters at Ocean County College. It’s important to remember that developmental courses are factored into
your GPA, but do not count toward your graduation credit total.
Slide 22
Students are permitted to challenge their test scores only once. After retesting, they will be required to take
any developmental courses indicated by the placement test.
Slide 23:
Students wishing to take Calculus-based Math must follow a specific course sequence.
Slide 24:
An additional placement test is required for students wishing to test out of College Algebra. Please note that
students do not receive credit for courses they test out of; they are only permitted to register for the next
course in the sequence. Students wishing to take the College Level Math Test should contact the Testing
