Project Scope & Customer Commitment Agreement for
Microsoft DevOps Deployment Assessment
OVERVIEW FOR MICROSOFT DEVOPS DEPLOYMENT ASSESSMENT
<<Consultant Name>> will provide Deployment Planning Services for Visual Studio DevOps Deployment
Assessment for <<Customer Name>> as described below. The three-day engagement as described in this
document provides the following components:
1. Assessment and Roadmap – Provides insight into the maturity of your software development
capabilities and recommends potential improvements.
2. DevOps Deployment Recommendations – Provides you with a Microsoft DevOps Deployment Plan
with actionable steps to improve your organization’s capacity for continuous delivery.
DETAILED PROJECT SCOPE AND TIMEFRAME
Following is a description and schedule of services that will be provided to the customer during this three-day
engagement:

PHASE 1: PRE-ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES – DAY 0
The lead consultant will provide your team with a pre-engagement questionnaire that must be completed before
our first day on site. The questionnaire will:



Provide infrastructure information.
Identify subject matter experts (SMEs) within the organization who will work with the consultants.
PHASE 2: KICK-OFF AND PRESENTATION– DAY 1
Review Pre-Engagement Questionnaire with customer – 2 Hours
The lead consultant will review and validate the completed questionnaire with the customer to draw out any
requirements or focus areas for the remainder of the engagement. Specifically the review will:



Validate the completed Pre-Engagement Questionnaire.
Document any requirements and/or focus areas.
DevOps Business Value Workshop – 2 Hours
This half-day service will give the customer’s entire delivery organization (business stakeholders, dev/test teams,
and operations) broad knowledge to define a desired end state using Microsoft DevOps solutions. The workshop
will then provide additional information to help your organization understand DevOps concepts. Key decisionmakers must be present for the workshop.

PHASE 3: DISCOVERY WORKSHOPS AND INTERVIEWS – DAY 1-2
Based on the results of the pre-engagement questionnaire, the consultant will interview customer subject matter
experts (SMEs) to:




Gather documentation on existing processes and tools spanning the customer’s full lifecycle (idea,
dev, test, release, monitor, learn)
Interview customer subject matter experts
Assess and document current DevOps capabilities and maturity
Begin to identify high-value opportunities for improvement

PHASE 4: DEVOPS DEPLOYMENT ASSESSMENT DELIVERABLE DEVELOPMENT – DAY 3
Based on assessment findings, the consultant will create a tailored roadmap to provide insight into the maturity of
your software lifecycle and delivery capabilities and recommend potential improvements.

PHASE 5: PLAN AND RESOURCES DELIVERY – DAY 3
Lead Consultant will:
1. Present customer with written deployment plan and review key findings with customer stakeholders.
2. Provide a link to the latest Visual Studio ALM Demo VHD and other post-engagement materials, as
appropriate.
SERVICE AREAS OUT OF SCOPE
The areas that are out of scope for this engagement include, but are not limited to:









Migration planning
Test tools deployment planning
Process reengineering and rolling out organizational changes
Creation of customized reports, new or extensions of existing
Extensive customization of process guidance templates
Customization of reports, HTML, or Windows SharePoint templates
Application architecture design work
Production migration of existing source code repository
Team Foundation Server failover and disaster recovery planning and testing
ENGAGEMENT DELIVERABLES
Following is a description of the service deliverables that will be provided to the customer at the completion of the
engagement:

ENGAGEMENT FEES
According to the terms and conditions of this offer, Microsoft Corporation will reimburse the consultant for the
services described herein. You, the customer, will not be invoiced for this project. If you wish to extend or
change the scope of the project, you will need to contract separately with the consultant. No extensions or
revisions will be covered by Microsoft.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
The nature of this three-day engagement requires strict time considerations and a serious commitment on the part
of the customer. Under this rules of this agreement, the consultant will not begin the engagement until the
following have been scheduled and confirmed by the customer:
1. Pre-engagement Questionnaire (must be completed in full)
2. Interviews with SMEs
3. 2 hour workshop with key stakeholders
Additionally, delivery of engagement services depends upon the customer’s:
 Involvement in all aspects of the services.
 Ability to provide accurate and complete information, as needed.
 Timely and effective completion of activities, as identified herein.
