Announcements for Thursday August 27
Are you interested in science or engineering? Do you want to work with Chico State engineering students to do
outreach with grade school age students? Are you a science or engineering major? If this is you then join SWE, the
Society of Women Engineers club. Our first meeting is Tuesday Sept. 1st at lunch (12:20) in Olson's room (IC12). Don't
let the name fool you all are welcome (guys and gals). Last year half of the club was guys!
Attention Honors 9 students! Mandatory meeting this week during lunch in IC 8 ( Mr. Hopkins’ room) to discuss
summer readings. If you are an A Day student, be there on Wednesday, August 26. If you are a B Day student, be there
on Thursday, August 27. Both meetings will begin promptly at 12:25.
Attention ALL Honors 10 students (that’s Mrs. Kauffman and Ms. Alexich’s students)! Mandatory meeting this week on
Thursday, August 27 during lunch in IC4 (Ms. Alexich’s room) to discuss summer readings. Meeting will begin promptly
at 12:25.
The district wide College & Career Night will be September 15th in the Chico High Lincoln Center from 5:30-6:30. This is
an amazing opportunity to meet with representatives from universities, vocational schools, and the military branches.
PSAT: The PSAT is just around the corner! The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
(PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's
a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT!! Everyone is encouraged to take this test in preparation
for the SAT. Sophomore and Juniors, this is highly recommended for YOU! Inspire offers this test on
campus! Registration will be in the main office beginning on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. More information to follow.
SAT: Are you ready for the SAT?! SENIORS, if you have not taken the SAT yet, it is strongly recommended you take
either the October or November test. Two dates are open for registration now. Juniors ! If you have not done so already,
look to take your first SAT in the Spring !
Reminder: Students must register online for the SAT at sat.collegeboard.org/. Inspire does not hold testing for the SAT.
Students must register to take the test at a school closest to where they live. Students can find approved testing
locations on the College Board website. The next testing dates are:

ACT: Students may also be interested in trying the ACT college admission test. This test offers a section of Science yet
the Writing portion is optional. However, please enroll in the writing portion as your college may require it. You can
register for the ACT on their website at act.org. Inspire does not hold testing for the ACT. Students must register for the
test on the ACT website and register to take the test at a school closest to where they live. Students can find approved
testing locations at act.org. The next testing dates are:

The first rally of the year is this Friday, August 28th! Wear school colors- black, purple, silver, and white! Advisories will
be showcasing their advisory chants, flags, and hats! Get pumped hawks!
Seniors with an open period – on Friday make sure you get to school by 9 since we will have an altered schedule for the
rally. 2nd period starts at 9:03!
Hey, Inspire! Are you interested in standing up for LGBTQ+ equality in your community? If so, join GSA every B-Day
Friday at lunch in room IC-16. All students are welcome to join. Hope to see you there!"
There's going to be a CSF meeting this Thursday, August 27th, during lunch in IC6. This is a great opportunity to
volunteer and become more involved in your community.
Interact will be having its first event Wednesday, September 2nd after school. If you are interested in doing a community
service projects with kids, or are interested in the club itself, please find Jordyn Lamb.
The living Poets Society will be meeting this Friday, the 28th at lunch in IC 9. If you're interested in writing, listening to,
or discussing poetry, this is the place for you! Please join us on Friday for snacks and literary appreciation.
Our first Club International meeting was great!! We are still looking for members so if you are interested in world
cultures, guest speakers, excursions, watching foreign films, discussing world events, international foods and becoming a
better global citizen, join us. We will be electing officers at our next meeting and if you’re interested in running, contact
Reid or Holcomb. We meet on A Day Fridays at 12:25 in IC-16. We hope to see you soon. Hasta Bientôt.
If you are enrolled in Online Health for the 2015-2016 school-year, there will be a mandatory meeting in IC-18 with Mr.
Peek next week, August 26th and August 27th beginning at 3:30. You only need to attend one of these meetings! If for
