The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Chamber Music in Marin, and the Delphi Trio present: SFC MIM Chamber Music Emerging Artists Program Want to present your chamber music group in a public, intimate setting? Want to experience the process of self-concertizing under the mentorship of chamber music professionals? Want to play a well-prepared, balanced program for an audience of eager listeners? Then this is the program for you! About the Program The SFCM Chamber Music in Marin program is designed to train emerging chamber musicians in professional chamber music concert presentation. Artists will do the following: -set a concert date -choose a 1.5 hour program -publicize/advertise -write a program (including program notes) -three performances: two run-throughs (one at the venue) and the concert -manage and perform at one’s own concert All aspects of the program will be managed by the SFFCM affiliated Delphi Trio. The trio will walk Emerging Artists through the process, giving them professional advice and guidance. However, the real success of the concert will be determined by the group’s own motivation to work and prepare themselves. The culmination event will take place at Chamber Music in Marin’s beautiful Novato United Methodist Church. The group of Emerging Artists will receive a honorarium for transport and other costs. The Process The application to participate in the program is due January 15, and is located at the end of the document. Applicants must fill in the form to the best of their ability. The requirements are: -a recording of the group (at least 10 mins, two contrasting styles) -individual CVs of each member of the group -a program proposal (two or three major works. These choices can be changed at a later date, but no later than a month before the chosen concert date) After the application is accepted and approved, the participants must decide a concert date and sign a contract with Chamber Music in Marin. This contract includes a $20.00 deposit that will be returned to the participant the day of the engagement. If the Emerging Artists cancel their contract, the deposit will be kept by the SFCMIM Emerging Artists Program. The program requires the Emerging Artists to play two run-throughs of their program—one at a location of their choosing, and another at the venue before the concert. This is to help the Emerging Artists determine the logistics of transport to the venue as well as the acoustics of the venue itself. Also, the Delphi Trio will be present at both run-throughs to ensure the progress of the Emerging Artists. The Concert The concert will be the culmination event of the whole program. The Emerging Artists will present a full-length program of two or three works. The group will provide programs, program notes, and a means of transportation. A member of the Delphi Trio will be at the concert to help with logistics and general management, but the Emerging Artists are primarily responsible for all that takes place. The Mentorship The Delphi Trio will mentor Emerging Artists by initiating each step of the process. This includes helping Young Artists make program decisions, assisting with concert logistics and management, editing program notes, and publicizing. The trio will also advise Emerging Artists during run-throughs about practical issues, such as balance, rehearsal technique and frequency, and general chemistry and energy of the group. The Delphi Trio is a professional piano trio, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Members Jeffrey LaDeur, Liana Berube, and Michelle Kwon are graduates of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and met while participating in the SFCM Chamber Music Program. Their mission is to promote and present energized, mutual chamber music with the highest integrity possible. For more information, please visit their website at www.thedelphitrio.com.
