2016 African American Heritage Association Scholarship Application Purpose: Is to increase student awareness of the significant contributions made by African Americans toward opportunities and freedoms enjoyed today in the United States of America. Sponsorship: This scholarship is made possible by generous donations through the African American Heritage Association (AAHA). Eligibility: This scholarship is open to Department of Defense (DoD) dependent youth affiliated with San Antonio and its immediate surrounding areas who meet the following criteria: Is a high school graduating senior Is an immediate dependent of a DoD employee (active duty, guard, reserve or retired military, federal civil service employee or contractor) Is a well-rounded individual, involved in community service and school activities Shows proof of full-time enrollment in a college or university at the time of scholarship payment (enrollment status must be determined and verified by the school; proof may be official transcripts, authenticated class schedule or a written letter from the Dean or Registrar's Office) Application package availability: Packages will be available starting 23 Nov 15 at the Joint Base San Antonio Lackland Base Library and Base Youth Center; as well as through AAHA member distribution. Cite two credible sources (e.g. articles, books or other scholarly publications) documented using Modern Language Association (MLA) or American Psychological Association (APA) citations. The AAHA will announce and recognize the scholarship recipients at the annual AAHA Banquet held on Saturday, 27 February 15. Recipients are encouraged to attend. The AAHA will provide the recipient's meal. Other information: Upon verification of college/university enrollment, scholarship payment will be made either directly to the college/university or to the recipient.
