MORNING WORKSHOPS
CODE/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
WBF 1 I Want To Be A Farmer Summer Workshop
Does your child relish wearing overalls and getting dirty. Does he/she love
animals and is mesmerized by growing things? Does the sight of a tractor send
him or her into a state of sheer delight? Then you will want to sign up immediately
for this workshop. Kids spend a week learning about farm animals and growing
tasty and healthy things to eat. Farm kids will enjoy a hands-on experience that
incorporates the work of the farm with learning about the many contributions that
livestock make to our everyday lives – from what we eat to what we wear.
Participants will learn first-hand about sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, horses,
and pigs. The Farm’s learning gardens will provide children with ample
opportunity to get dirty and wet while tending the fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
SBF 1
Storybook Farm Summer Workshop
A farm experience designed especially for young children between the ages of
four and six, Storybook Farm introduces youngsters to the excitement of farm
animals and plants through engaging books. Each morning begins with a story –
Going To A Horse Farm, Hedgie’s Surprise, Three Billy Goats Gruff, etc. From
there, the children proceed to the farmyard where literature is transformed into
real life. For example, having read about children visiting a horse farm,
participants will actually groom miniature horses and maybe give them a bubble
bath, go for a horse ride on a big horse, wield a muck rake, feed the horses, and
climb on the hay bales. Guaranteed to be a delightful way for young children to
learn about farming.
