The AIE AVP will meet with the Department Chair/Director and UAC liaison for the first review meeting. Administrative units will be presented to appropriate Vice Presidents at the end of the fall semester. Academic Programs will be presented to Provost at the end of the spring semester. Higher Education Survey of Employee Engagement (HESEE) formerly HEES (last administered at UT Tyler 2008) will be administered to all benefits-eligible employees February, 2012 Academic review will likely take longer than admin reviews. Our goal was to complete 90% by the end of the fall semester for the Admin and Educ Admin assessment Plan Reviews but we only completed 81%. The revised rubrics have an added a check box to indicate suggested changes or updates have been made and/or adopted. The revised Process and Timelines implemented during the fall for the Admin and Educ Admin reviews went well. All of the liaisons agreed the process was more efficient and effective. UAC Member Liaison Assignments were reviewed. The AIE Office will prioritize reviews for the academic programs that are behind in the assessment reporting. Assistance in student recruitment for our seniors is needed! Testing Window February 1-April 15. The sessions for the Profile and CLA will be at the same times until February 17 to facilitate scheduling. Each student completing the CLA receive $25 Barnes & Noble Gift Card All benefits-eligible employees received an email memo from Dr. Mabry today encouraging everyone to participate. The survey link email from UT Austin will be sent on Monday, January 30. The Survey is open January 30 – February 17. The AIE office has reviewed all of College of Engineering & Computer Science. Dr. Kulkarni provided leadership to revamp mission statements and SLOs to be more efficient and accurate. The BSN assessment plan is complete with the exception of minor edits in TracDat. Approximately one-half of the departments in the College of Arts and Sciences have been reviewed. The 2014 core curriculum changes must be submitted to THECB by fall 2013 and students beginning in fall 2014 will enroll under the new core. UT Tyler faculty will decide on the 6 hours in the component area to be distributed to one or more of the foundational component areas. The 2014 core must have 42 SCH. New assessment for the core objectives are teamwork, social and personal responsibility. Discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of measuring student learning and the value added experience using standardized tests with non-scientific sampling and low stakes incentives for representative performance abilities. Tabled to discuss in April. We will continue to review and meet with departments in the summer. All faculty are encouraged to participate in any of the FLC projects and may contact Dr. Bill Geiger for additional information. UAC Calendar & Meeting A new initiative funded through the Office of Sponsored Research and facilitated by Dr. Bill Geiger began earlier this spring for a “Teaching Excellence & Innovation Center.” The purpose of the center is to promote support for new initiatives in teaching as well as to encourage and support research related to teaching and learning. The TE&I Steering Committee has proposed working through four Faculty Learning communities that each have a specific area of interest. Lou Ann presented a PowerPoint presentation on the results of the HESSE given to faculty and staff during the month of February. Area of strengths are supervision, benefits and strategic. Areas of concern are pay, external and internal communication. This will be completed by the last Faculty Senate meeting and email to UAC members. Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, Ozark Campus Chancellor, Arkansas Tech University is a reviewer for North Central Association of Colleges and School will be here in Tyler to visit her twin sister Jill Blondin.
