Transport Links: The site is well served by public transport sitting in prime position on the major bus route which runs through the town. There are two bus stops situated outside the School on South Road, which provide connections in both directions on the A15 on heading towards the City of Peterborough, where Delaine buses every 20-30minutes pass through, collecting and dropping passengers at all villages along with way which have bus stops. Buses also run towards Stamford again provide a service to those who live in villages along the route. Delaine buses are the sole transport link operating around Bourne, surrounding villages and to Peterborough. It is a company which provides all the School transport for the students; a very reliable, valued, long serving transport link and company within our local community. The facility is in prime location as there are bus stops outside the venue, along with a pedestrian crossing to ensure users can cross the road safely. The main bus station in in the town centre, which is approximately a 5-10 minutes, again offering excellent public transport connections to buses which may not run as frequently as the more popular well used routes. The site is highly accessible by pedestrians using of the existing footway network along the major routes in the vicinity of the site, namely South Road. A large proportion of our students walk to School daily as there is an effective footway network which lies within the town and nearby residential areas. 2 Bourne Grammar School Travel Plan, Artificial Pitch Application Signal controlled pedestrian crossing facilities are incorporated at every major main road when walking in the town centre, with the addition of pelican crossings in built up busier areas to allow crossing the roads easier. We also have a signal controlled pedestrian crossing situated directly outside the School, which students and future users will be encouraged to use to enforce road safety. The crossing in 30 metres from the existing bus stops allowing an easy footway to the facility. Like any School we also have the 20mph speed zone outside and surrounding the School gates which operates within certain hours to encourage motorists to reduce speed and raise awareness of pedestrians moving and moving and cross alongside the road. Parking requirements at pitch: As described above, there are excellent public transport links to the pitch. The proposed car/cycle park will serve both the artificial pitches, and the grass pitches (it is well located for pedestrian access to all the existing pitches). It is intended that the car park will relieve pressures of on-street parking, and provide flexibility for larger ‘community’ events that are held at the School’s pitches. We will provide cycle racks for 20 cyclists, ensuring that the design incorporates secure storage. Monitoring and Developing Our target for the new facility is to increase community use providing, enhancing sporting opportunities for grass roots level but to also support existing teams and clubs within the local community. This is comparable to the existing pitch. We will monitor transport choices to & from the pitch & encourage responsible parking etc. In planning our outreach work with primary colleagues & community groups, we will always seek to maximise usage while taking the most appropriate transport decisions.
