Other Employment Lycée Militaire d’Aix-en-Provence, Aix-en-Provence, France Additional Relevant Information I come from a large family and have always loved the company of children. Minding my younger siblings and cousins as I was growing up, I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in the care and education of children. I consider myself a very enthusiastic, hard-working, and dedicated person. I am passionate about working with young people and I have the communication skills, positive attitude and patience which are necessary in any teaching situation. My experience of working as a teacher in a foreign country last year has further increased my intercultural awareness and my adaptability to differing educational contexts. I am proficient in MS Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and am familiar with a broad range of in-class teaching aids and other AV technology (Moodle, VLEs, electronic whiteboards, etc.) I have a great love of music, singing and theatre; I play piano and I trained for 9 years with Spotlight stage school. Alongside my B.Ed., I took French to degree level; one of my 2nd year course essays, for which I received an A1 grade, was selected for submission to the Undergraduate Awards of Ireland and, just prior to graduation, I was also selected by the French Studies department of Mary Immaculate College for appointment to a teaching post as language assistant at the prestigious Lycée Militaire d’Aix-en-Provence. I have a fluent command of French and would be very happy to become involved in offering it as an extra-curricular subject or within the context of the MLPSI initiative. I have a strong personal faith and am deeply committed to the social mission of the Church, both within the education system and elsewhere. My involvement in outreach programs and liturgies began early in my school days and I am still engaged in on-going volunteer work in homework clubs in disadvantaged areas of the city. I also volunteered in a summer camp for children with special needs and I have a particular interest in this area of education. Referees M.
