** 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “...God loves a cheerful giver.”… Please
notice the offering box in the entranceway; we joyfully place our
offerings in the collection box. Your contributions to God help us
preach the Gospel here in Cedar Key, around the world and carry out
works of benevolence to the glory of Christ our Lord.
Welcome Visitors and Members! We
hope that your experience today will add
something meaningful to your life in Christ
Jesus. If you are new to the area and
would like more information about this church, let us know. If
you are just visiting our island community, then we hope to
see you again. Would you like to confess your faith in Jesus
Christ and repent of your sins today? Come forward during the
last song and we will assist you in obeying Christ as Lord – or
let us know your desire some other time. We can arrange a
time for your baptism into Christ. If you are a Christian and
wandered away from home with the Lord, you may also make
your desires known and we will pray for God to forgive your
sins, and fully restore you to Jesus Christ and joyful fellowship
with other Christians.
Share the Good News! Free Bible
studies and much more are available at
our congregation’s web site Cedar Key
Church of Christ. We also have the church’s
weekly Bulletin on our web site.
We give a very large shout-out of
thanks to our faithful scribe Laura
Robinson for carefully perusing
our extensive prayer list and
making suggestions on those who
should be taken off and providing a
few names to add to our list. Just
because we don’t mention each person by name in our
public prayers doesn’t prevent us from mentioning these
people in our personal prayers.
We wholeheartedly welcome our
special visitors Dick and Jackie
Elliott! Jackie and Dick used to live
part of the year in Cedar Key. While
they were here, they were an active
part of the life of the church. We still
miss them and are so happy they
turned west on SR-24 to travel down
memory lane.

Does It Matter How We Sing and Pray?
So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray
with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my
mind. (1 Corinthians 14:15 NIV)
Church growth specialists are people who study the activities of
churches that are growing versus those who are losing ground.
One common factor that marks churches that are growing is the
quality of the worship service.
It is consistently a fact that people who are searching for a
church that will help them continue to grow in their faith, look for
sincere and uplifting worship services.
1. New visitors are looking for meaningful singing that stirs the
emotions and intellect. The song leader must put ample time into
the preparation of the song service. Even though the singing
may be slightly off key, but if the words are sung with genuine
enthusiasm, then the Lord is glorified and those who participate
will be blessed by their attendance at the worship.
2. Visitors want to hear prayers that come from the heart of the
one doing the praying with words and phrases that are
understandable and that will sincerely and fervently make
requests to God about things that matter in everyday life. They
also want to hear prayers that praise God for His awesome
power along with acknowledging the grace of mercy that brings
us salvation through faith in Christ. When we fervently pray with
positive expectation that God in Heaven hears us, and will
answer us according to His will, visitors will see that God is truly
exalted by people who have true faith in the living God.
3. When the singing and the praying are done from sincere
hearts, then the preaching portion of the service will tend to be
more
Jesus indicates that individual disciples have a part in remaining
in him where there is peace and safety. (Hebrews 3:12-14)
We must never take God from granted. (Ps 77:12-13, Is. 12:6)
It is generally impossible to accomplish something spiritually
impressive to worldly-minded people, but when we unite in
following Jesus, we honor God our Creator. (Romans 15:5-6)
Faithfulness to Jesus Christ means remaining loyal to his
teachings that are revealed in the Word of God. (John 15:10-17)
The work of the Holy Spirit convicts our hearts of sin and helps
us understand the truth. (John 16:5-15)
Jesus prays that the Father protect followers of Christ from the
evil one and that we are made holy by remaining faithful to the
Spirit inspired word of truth. (John 17:13-17)
Christians will awake to the need for righteousness in our daily
lives when we consider the truth that we may fall from grace of
God if we are unfaithful to the leadership of Jesus Christ. A daily
self-test is a worthy activity that should be included in our Plan of
the Day. (2 Corinthians 13:5-10)
Christ and the apostles plainly teach that a person may fall from
the grace of God by their own lack of attention to obeying Christ
and by being tempted to sin without repentance. (Gal. 5:4)
When we as Christians sin, we should not remain in sinful
thoughts or deeds, but we must confess our sins in sincere
repentance and Christ forgives us. (1 John 1:8-10) DB
