SCOPE OF WORK: To perform routine custodial and grounds duties for the Maintenance Department as assigned. This position reports to the Building Services Supervisor at NHTI, Concord’s Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Mops and scrubs floors; waxes and polishes floors and furniture; dusts furniture; cleans and polishes brass, cleans lavatories and replaces lavatory supplies; disposes of wastepaper; Replaces light bulbs and makes simple repairs to buildings and equipment; moves furniture and equipment, delivers supplies and runs errands, as needed;

Picks up and delivers clean laundry from the laundry; delivers soiled clothing to laundry for cleaning.
Drives a truck when necessary to transport mulch or other materials to the job site on campus;
Assists within other areas of the Maintenance Department, as needed: Cuts grass, trims hedges, shovels snow, sweeps and cleans walkways and assists in keeping outside premises in an orderly condition.
Reports safety concerns to management and the Chief of Campus Security on a timely basis; Observes sound safety practices such as wearing hearing protectors while operating any grass cutting machinery on campus;
Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations;
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of eighth grade or its equivalent.
Experience: No experience required.
License/Certification: Valid Driver’s License.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Ability to learn the materials, methods and practices used in cleaning operations.
Ability to learn the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and other janitorial equipment. Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment. Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces. Ability to work effectively with fellow workers and others. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Sufficient physical strength to perform custodial tasks. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
