organisations to offer a high quality of service to clients from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
CEH includes three discrete programs that focus on health sector development, problem gambling,
and sexual health and viral hepatitis.
CEH is part of North Richmond Community Health, an agency committed to making healthcare
more accessible and culturally relevant.
position objective
This position sits in the Multicultural Health & Support Service (MHSS) team. The position aims to
provide education, information and support on blood-borne viruses (BBV) and sexually transmissible
infections (STI) to men from CALD communities. The multicultural men’s worker will also work with
relevant service providers on culturally appropriate service delivery. This position will focus on the
needs of men from high prevalence communities in particular.
key responsibilities and deliverables



Provide culturally appropriate education on sexual health, drug use and risk taking behaviours
to promote prevention and harm minimisation.
Raise the profile of BBV and STI in targeted CALD communities through community-based
projects, campaigns, networking and lobbying under the supervision of the coordinator,
community programs.
Conduct focus groups and community consultations.

Working with diverse communities to provide quality services, particularly young people, with
the ability to adapt and be responsive to changing target groups
Possess an understanding of health and cultural issues in HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and STI within
culturally diverse communities.
Demonstrated understanding of the fundamental principles of confidentiality, respect and
privacy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including well developed interpersonal
skills.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with various stakeholders.

responsibilities & conditions of employment
All employees of North Richmond Community Health are required to follow specific common
conditions of employment. These are outlined in the NRCH Policy and Procedures Manual.
A summary is listed below:

Employees must contribute to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) objectives by reporting
hazards and incidents immediately to an OHS representative, committee member or
manager. Employees must behave in a manner that fosters safe working practices.

Conduct must be in accordance with the NRCH Code of Conduct, Employment Contract,
Confidentiality Agreement and other NRCH policies and procedures.

Regular working hours will be negotiated but must be within operational hours (9am-8pm
Tues & Thurs; 9am-5pm Mon, Wed & Fri). From time to time, some out-of-hours work may be
required.

Salary is set in accordance with the relevant Award and classification.

Appointment is subject to a three-month probationary period, wherein performance will be
reviewed prior to the expiry of the probationary period and an ongoing employment decision
will be communicated.

Leave entitlements are as per Award and HR Policy guidelines.

All position descriptions are open to periodic review by management in consultation with staff.

NRCH provides a smoke-free environment, including within vehicles.
