Contestant Paperwork:
Each Miss and OT contestant must fill out a contract, indemnity-and-release form, and a contestant
information form. (These can all be found on the “Contestant” page on the Miss Goldsboro website).
These must be accompanied by any required supporting documents, which are listed in the contracts.
It is strongly recommended that all paperwork be postmarked by Wednesday, October 14, 2015. This
allows our committee time to review your paperwork. If you are missing anything, we can then inform
you so that you can bring the necessary documents with you to the first rehearsal on Oct. 25
THE DEADLINE TO TURN IN PAPERWORK IS 5:00 PM ON OCT. 25. NO PAPERWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED
AFTER 5:00 PM ON OCT. 25.

Opening Number Outfits:
All opening number outfits must be approved by the committee.
Miss Contestants: Skinny dark wash jeans, black dressy blouse, high heels and jewelry of your choice.
Teen Contestants: Skinny dark wash jeans, dressy blouse in neon (pink, blue or green only), high heels
and jewelry of your choice.
Areas of Competition:
Talent:
The time limit for Miss and Teen talent presentation is 90 seconds maximum. There can be no
duplication of a talent act among contestants. If two contestants wish to perform the same song, the
contestant who has turned in her music first will be allowed to perform the song.
Only the contestant will be permitted on stage during her performance. No props will be permitted
unless they are functional to the performance.
Fitness:
Swimsuits may be one or two piece, off-the-rack (retail) or custom, and all swimsuits must be approved
by the committee.
OT will compete in fitness (exercise) wear and will perform a fitness routine, which will be taught at
rehearsals.
Evening Wear:
You may wear a long gown of your choice during this competition.
On-Stage Question: You will be asked a question from your interview earlier that day. It could be either
a platform or a current events question.
Interview:
Interviews will be 10 minutes for Miss, eight (8) minutes for Teen.
Contestants will stand at a podium and answer questions from a panel of judges. Interviews will be
timed. When 30 seconds remains, the timer will interrupt the contestant. The chief judge will ask you
to finish your answer, or contestants may choose to give a closing statement.
Carolina Princess Program:
Every contestant, Miss and Teen, is required to have a Carolina Princess (CP). A CP is a young
girl between the ages of 6 and 12. The contestant acts as a mentor to her CP, and should spend
time forming a relationship with the young girl.
Contestants are welcome to bring their own CP if they already have one. If not, the Miss
Goldsboro Association will find one for them.
Program Book & People’s Choice:
Each contestant is asked (but not required) to sell ad pages for our program book.
Ad page sales forms and instructions are available on the website, and will be handed out at the first
rehearsal.
An award will presented onstage during the pageant for highest ad sales for Miss, Teen and CPs.
Audience members will be allowed to vote for a “People’s Choice” contestant. Votes are paid for with
cash only. The “People’s Choice” winner will receive a plaque and gift onstage during the pageant.
Children’s Miracle Network
The Miss America Organization has partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network and each
Miss Contestant is required to raise $100.00, which will be given to the CMN Foundation.
Contestants will not be allowed to compete if they have not raised the required amount by the time
interviews begin on the morning of the pageant.
Contestants must go online to complete the registration form and keep track of the amount they have
received. This will be discussed in more detail at the first rehearsal.
Please remember that no question is too insignificant, and all of us on the committee will be happy to
address any concerns you may have. We sincerely want each of you to do well in our pageant and have
an exciting and positive experience.
Once again, thank you for your interest in the Miss Goldsboro Scholarship Pageant. Feel free to contact
me via email, phone, or Facebook if you have any questions.
Best wishes,
