Structural Engineers Association of Alabama 2015 Scholarship Program Eligibility The Structural Engineers Association of Alabama (SEAoAL) may award scholarships to eligible and deserving students dedicated to pursuing a career in Structural Engineering. Eligible candidates are residents of the State of Alabama who are: • • • • Final year undergraduate students of an accredited program College students entering an accredited Graduate or Doctoral Program Post-graduate students continuing in an accredited Graduate or Doctoral Program Persons employed in the field of structural engineering and licensed as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) entering an accredited Graduate or Doctoral Program All eligible programs must be: • • Accredited in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering. Acceptable accreditation includes ABET and SACS. Physically located in the State of Alabama. Online programs are eligible, provided they are hosted by a university physically located in the State of Alabama. Procedure Completed Applications (including all required submissions) must be postmarked no later than April 10, 2015. Box 660584 Birmingham, AL 35266 Structural Engineers Association of Alabama 2015 Scholarship Program Evaluation All applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. The committee will submit its recommendations to the SEAoAL Board of Directors. The intent of the scholarship is to encourage structural engineers to study and practice Structural Engineering in the State of Alabama. Preference will be given to applicants best demonstrating this intention. Consideration will be given to the following: • Academic performance • Dedication to the advancement of Structural Engineering • Intended use of scholarship funds • Financial need The committee may recommend more than one recipient or may recommend that no award be made in a particular year if no outstanding applications are received. Notification Award Recipients will be notified no later than May 15, 2015 by written letter. Multiple scholarships may be awarded in amounts determined by the Board of Directors. Funds will be divided by the number of academic terms for the year and dispersed at the beginning of each term directly to the academic institution. Stipulations of Second Disbursement 1. Scholarship winners must submit an official transcript with fall semester grades. 2. Fall semester transcript must reflect a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
