2015 NSW Premier's Reading Challenge Welcome to the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) for 2015. At Rozelle Public School we invite every child to participate. The Challenge is available for all NSW students from Kindergarten - Year 9. It aims to foster in students a love of reading for leisure and pleasure, and to enable students to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. In order to complete the Challenge, students will be required to read a set number of books (depending on their grade) from the PRC booklist, and record the books on an online reading record. To logon to the PRC website students enter the username and password they use to logon to the computers at school in order to complete their reading record. Whilst there will be some time dedicated to participating in the PRC during library lessons and class time, the majority of reading and online completion of reading records will need to be done at home. NB. Kindergarten students will complete the challenge at school, and have the books entered by their teachers. Students will be learning more about the Premier’s Reading Challenge during library lessons and will be encouraged to borrow PRC books to read at home and record on their online reading records. Parents, please note that all students entering the Premier's Reading Challenge will receive a PRC certificate and may appear in the PRC Honour Roll. The certificate shows the student's name and school. The Honour Roll (Gold or Platinum Certificates) lists student names in alphabetical order on the PRC website only. No other identifying features are included. Students who do not wish to receive a certificate or be on the Honour Roll should not register for the Challenge. These students may do the Challenge unofficially, using the PRC booklists. Students who successfully complete the Challenge will be given their certificates at the end of the year. Please visit the PRC website (www.premiersreadingchallenge.nsw.edu.au) for further information on the rules and reading requirements for each age group.. Details of how to access the PRC website and complete an online reading record are on the reverse side of this letter. If you have any questions about the Challenge please contact Elaine Smith or Peter Baldwin in the library. Happy reading everyone!
