This exercise will look at a few of these, some common, some less used as well as the command locations on the Microsoft Ribbon. Instructions: Perform the actions indicated on each line. Print or save a copy of the final document as an Adobe PDF file to submit to the appropriate eCampus assignment. Formatting Text {Home tab, Font}: Print this line in Bold text with the words italic in italic text. Print this line as underscored (underlined) text with a double underscore. Print the underscored portions of the following text as superscript: Use e-log x or e-32B. Print the numbers 2 and 4 as subscript text: I said, drink the H2O not the H2SO4! Change the font face to a script font that is colored red. Change the font size of this line of text to 18 and color it blue. Margin Justification/Alignment {Home tab, Paragraph}: Use Center justification for this line. Use Right justification for this line. Write something here that will demonstrate full justification. Miscellaneous Extend the left margin of this text to align with “Miscellaneous” above. {Ruler display} Insert a page break immediately after this line. {Page Layout tab, Page Setup} Add a watermark image to this document. {Page Layout tab, Page Background} Add two different horizontal lines in the space below {one using Insert/Shapes, the other using Insert/Clip Art} Insert this line of text in a text box and format it to vertical text , bottom to top. {Insert Tab, Text, Text Box; Drawing Tools, Format} Insert two hyperlinks, one to Google.com, the other to Amazon.com. Have one display the address (URL), the other display the name only. {Insert, Links} Symbols/Foreign Characters {Insert Tab, Symbols, Symbol} After each of the following words, add the appropriate symbol: Cent degree not equal to Copyright plus or minus greater than or equal to Add a table below which will have 4 columns and two rows and type a different Greek alphabetical character (upper case letter) in each cell. Insert two happy face symbols here—one from shapes, the other from symbols (wingdings). Insert a Chinese, Japanese, or Korean character (CJK ideograph) here, followed by an octothrope. Graphics {Insert Tab—Illustrations, Shapes, Text Insert a spreadsheet chart below this line; change the Category and Series Names. {Insert, Chart} Insert two 5-point stars and fill one with a color: Convert this line to WordArt. Insert a clipart image below this line. Do a screen capture (Print Screen key) and insert that picture below this line. Add your name and course and section number as a header to this document. Add a footer with a command which will automatically add the current date. Add a hidden comment about life at A&M at the end of this line of text. Smart Art—Organizational Chart Insert a Next Page Section break, then orient the page to landscape mode. Build your Organizational Chart on this new page. Place a title at the top of the page (VIDT Organization Chart). Show appropriate lines of authority, and show both name and office in each box. Choose different colored boxes for elected officers, appointed officers, and the advisor. Add a color key for the text boxes to identify the different categories. Use the organizational chart software found in Word (Insert, Smart Art, Hierarchy) to make a standard box and line organizational chart which depicts the structure of the VIDT majors club. A typical chart would look something like this: Note that line positions are normally indicated by descending lines while staff positions are offset. Advisory positions are indicated by a dotted or dashed line.
