Policy Analyst/Researcher
The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario regulates physiotherapists and exists to protect and
serve the public interest. The College protects the rights of patients to safe, competent and
ethical care by ensuring physiotherapists maintain professional standards of practice and are
held accountable.
The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario is currently seeking a detail-oriented, professional,
self-motivated candidate for the Policy Analyst/Research role to provide research and
analytical policy support to assist the College in meeting its strategic goals and tactics, including
a major review of its standards and guidelines.
Terms and Position Overview
This role is a one-year contract position.
The Policy Analyst/Research will report directly to the Associate Registrar, Policy and will be
responsible for leading or participating in policy development, research, assignments and
projects in association with other organizational project leads.
The Policy Analyst/Researcher will research, study and interpret current environmental trends,
feedback from stakeholders and regulatory obligations to develop policy advice and proposed
policy positions to help the College fulfill its regulatory mandate and goals.

Responsibilities
The Policy Analyst/Researcher will:
 Lead or participate in policy development research, assignments and projects in
association with other organizational project leads
 Provide research and analytical policy support
 Provide research support to College policy projects
 Undertake analysis of issues of interest to the College
 Manage stakeholder consultations on policy and regulatory matters and incorporate
their feedback into policy projects
 Research, monitor, study, interpret and report on current environmental, practice and
legislative trends
 Develop policy issue briefing papers and advice to support staff, working groups and
Committees
 Develop policy advice and proposed policy positions to help the College fulfil its
regulatory mandate and goals
Education, Experience and Qualifications








Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and job experience in
public policy, health policy, regulatory policy, public administration or a related field
Knowledge of Ontario health care sector and current policy issues in health care
regulation
Experience in a health, regulatory or publicly funded environment considered an asset
Skilled in internet, library and other forms of research
Understands government legislation and regulation development process
Understands stakeholder management, including obtaining and assessing feedback
from organizational stakeholders
Able to read and understand legislation, regulations and case law
Able to distill knowledge from large volumes of information


Skilled in oral and written communication
Good presentation skills



Salary Range
$58,000 to $62,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
