A. Learning Objectives
1. Students are able to differentiate which one is relation and which one is function.
2. Studenta are able to present the relation or function in a diagram of arrow, diagram of
cartesian, or in a set of orderly pairs.
B. Material
1. Relation
Relation from set A to set B is a rule that pair the elements of A to the elements of B.
Relation between two sets can be declared by using :
a. Diagram of Arrow
b. Diagram of Cartesian
c. Set of Orderly Pairs
2. Function
Mapping or function from set A to set B is a partcular relation that pair each element
of A to exact one element of B.
Function between two sets can be declared by using :
a. Diagram of Arrow
b. Diagram of Cartesian
c. Set of Orderly Pairs

Preliminary
a. At the previous lesson, students have already learn about relation
and function, so teacher reminds them about relation and function,
and also how to declare relation and function.
b. Teacher tells student that today they will review about relation and

function before continuing to the next lesson.
c. Teacher asks students to sit in a small group consist of three people
and tell what they have to do with their group.

Main
a. Teacher gives a short story to each group. Each story is related to
relation or function. Two students from each group have to present
the story in a diagram of arrow, diagram of Cartesian, or set of
orderly pairs. While, one person left in a group will present the

result in front of the class without knowing the story first. Two
students in a group will give guidance to the other one, and the only
student will tell whether his/ her friend work is a relation or a
function.

Closing
a. Teacher asks students to summarize what they have learned today.

b. Teacher inform that they will learn about one-to-one function and
they can find the task for that material at the teacher’s blog.

2. Miranti, Janesa, and Vira are friends. Miranti is a socialite. She always make herself
update, so that is why she has all of applications of social media in her iPhone. Janesa is
same as Miranti, but not so with Vira. Here is their conversation in a beautiful night.

: ”Look, I have just installed Instagram in my iPhone”
Janesa
: ”Seriously? Oh, the network in my phone is bad right now. I cannot
download that application. What is your username? I will follow you as
soon as I have Instagram account.”
Miranti
: ”@mira.mira. Anyway, do you have LINE, KakaoTalk, WeChat account,
Janesa?”
Janesa
: ”I have LINE and WeChat account, but I do not have KakaoTalk, you?”
Miranti
: ”Of course I have already had all of them. Vira, what are you doing?”
Vira
: ”Oh, I just send texts to my cousins.”
Janesa
: ”Why do not use other application, like LINE, KakaoTalk, or WeChat,
Vira? Those all are easier than sending texts?
Vira
: ”I do not have any of them.”
Miranti & Janesa : ”Oh.”

3. On Thursday, Kana learns social subject in her class. Her teacher said that today they will
learn about capital city of countries around the world. Each student in the class will get
different list of capital city. This is the list that is given by the teacher to Kana.
